Eric Rowe Responds To Josh Norman's Comments About His Super Bowl Performance

Rowe wasn’t even the worst part about that

For a guy who hasn't been a world beater with the Skins, definitely not at the price he is being paid, you would think he would want to keep his yap shut.

Why? There was nothing wrong with what he said. Hell, what he said has probably already been said, in one form or another, by 95+% of the people on this board, and close to that across the NFL watching world.

Rowe competed. Unfortunately when he faced a guy like Jeffrey he was just overmatched when it came to 1 on 1 balls.

Rowe simply just doesn’t have the physical size to matchup with big bodied #1 WR’s. We saw this with Julio the year before as well.

His physicality and size are supposed to be his strengths. While I’m not sold on him by any means, it kind of goes without saying that guys like Julio Jones and Alston Jeffrey are going to have their way with him.

The difference between him and the 95+% is they are not being paid $75 million over five years to perform at that same position while showing his own failings at that role since getting the deal. Glass houses and such.

Otherwise it's a free country and he can say whatever he chooses to say.

There is no difference, and people here are doing the usual "Look, someone spoke about a Patriots player without performing fellatio on him. Therefore, that person is bad, and I'm going to insult him!" nonsense.

And the saying about glass houses has no application here.

Players actually usually show some respect to other players in a way that jacka## fans on message boards never have. Norman doesn't know the meaning of respect. He's like Sherman if Sherman had never won anything.

Damn, it's getting scary that I agree with you most of the time lately- something I pretty much never used to do.
Maybe I should see a doctor. Early dementia?
Either that, or you're just getting smarter.

I thought Norman was fairly respectful in his comments. He didn't totally trash Rowe or BB, just made some comments many others have made. We may never know exactly why Butler was benched but the main problem in SB LII was not much pressure on Foles, allowing him the time to complete his passes and putting increased pressure on the Pats' DB's. Hopefully, BB successfully addresses this problem for the 2018 season.

Not his fault he was on jeffrey early on, another coaching blunder from that game.

That's a ridiculous comment. Butler had been the team's CB for years (you may remember that started off with a certain play in an earlier SB), and Rowe was a last minute replacement. It's one thing for Rowe to search for motivation fuel by taking even the mildest of statements as a challenge. It's another for non-involved people to get panties in a twist over a statement that was completely non-controversial to any objectively thinking outsider, such as Norman's.

Rowe - 2nd round pick who was traded for a 4th just a year later, has played in just 17 games over the past 2 seasons, and has just 15 starts in 3 seasons and just 3 last season.

Butler - UDFA who made possibly the biggest play in SB history, has started 48 games in 4 seasons, including all but 1 game in his last 3 seasons, and who was voted to the AP 2nd team All-Pro in 2016
