Is WR/TE suddenly a need?

According to most people on this board, it is not a need as they are in fact good at every position. The Pats only acquire good players. Surprised these questions are even asked.

In all seriousness, I like Cooks, but I don't think he and Brady were on the same page last season so the trade doesn't shock me. At times it felt Brady would try to force the ball to Cooks just to get him involved. The trade is more bizarre for the Rams since Goff can't throw the deep ball.

Is WR/TE a need? They have Edelman coming off of a major injury and it's no guarantee he will respond well. Hogan is very injury prone and Mitchell cannot be relied upon as well. Cooks and Amendola were the only reliable WR's last season and their both gone. So yeah, it's a need.

Hogan has missed 8 games in 5 years... Thats "very" injury prone?

Edelman has missed 19 games over the same age period as Hogan and then missed an additional entire season after one full year.
Yes he is. He plays games but he disappears during games because he's dealing with some ailment. He did this all last season and did it in Buffalo. He toughs it out but he gets banged up easily.

What other injuries has he had? I am not talking about the 2017 shoulder injury that obviously affected his season.

Hogan is very injury prone

Hogan- 8 games missed in 5 years (7 of them coming this year from 1 injury )
Amendola- 11 games missed in 5 years (various injuries, not to mention the games he went out of early because of injury which would be at least 5 more)

So going by your logic that Hogan is very injury prone then Amendola is in the same boat as him and isn't reliable..

For F**k Sake you new trolls need to up your game

Trade Gronk to the Browns for pick 4 and Josh Gordon.

A pipe dream.

The Browns are in a complete rebuild and are not gonna give up 4th overall (Chubb or Barkley) for a soon to be 29 yr TE with major injury history.

Gronk would go to the WWE or an acting career before accepting a trade to Cleveland.

This trade would never happen.

Exactly! This is also with the pats limiting Amendola's snaps. Hogan was more durable than DA who actually became pretty durable after all the worries..

Trolls everywhere.....

I know just wishing Chubb would be awesome

Here's my thoughts:

We take Calvin Ridley if he falls to us at 23, or possibly Courtland Sutton. Both could be the Moss-like player we always wanted Cooks to be. And imagine the outrage. 5 years of a top-young WR for 1 year of another top-young WR. I'd love it

In the 17 previous drafts, Bill Belichick has not taken a 1st round WR. I'm not sure why you would think he'd change that now. Especially with needs at OT, LB and DE being much higher than WR.

Last year was the first time Hogan had missed any great length of time. Either here or in Buffalo.
This idea that he "disappears" during games is more of a game plan thing than you understand.

I'm hoping the Cooks trade means they're happy with what they have at WR. Which could mean they're looking good as a group overall, including the health of Mitchell and Edelman and the potential of both Britt and McCarron, with Hogan being his steady self and perhaps Dorsett improving after a year in the system. I think that's an excellent bunch right there with no need for help beyond maybe a late-round developmental rookie.

What did Belichick say after the sb against the falcons? We needed to get faster at the receiver position. Secondaries are getting faster and we just took a hit with the Cooks trade. Edelman's coming off a major injury and is getting older. Mitchell's always injured. Got to bring in some speed.

With the trade of Brandon Cooks and the potential "sadness" of Gronk, could it be that we're spreading ourselves too thin on the offense? Another injury to Edelman or Gronkowski or to an extent Hogan, suddenly means that we have a potentially serious issue among our pass catchers. Combine this with additional problems posed by the absence of a dynamic RB that kept defenses honest in Lewis and an above average LT and a very reliable guy in Amendola. Of course, having everyone healthy vaults this offense to a top 3 level, but our offense seems significantly weaker than it was on paper last year, without penciled in replacements. With that being said, I could honestly see Belichick trying to nab a guy like Ridley or Sutton in the 1st to get the Moss-like element we always wanted Cooks to be.
It is absolutely a need for the reasons you said re: Edelman and Hogan being injury plagued.
