Brady and Gronk - Do They Care About The Money Being Given?

Yea that makes sense.

There is no doubt in my mind the man is entitled to earn $25m/yr...if not more.

Something just tells me the Pats don't want to pay him a big guaranteed lump sum and have a huge dead cap hit when he is 44.

Well, if he plays in 2018 & 2019, then $21M of that $42M gtd will already be history. So if he retires at the start of 2020, they'll have $21M in dead money. Of course, by then, the cap will probably be around $200M.

You said B.B. won’t give him less than his market so what does he do if brady wants less but close to his market?
That has nothing to do with Hoyer.

Then why are you calling him a part time player.
Nate solder who just got the biggest contact ever for an OL has played 60 games in the past 4 years. Gronk has played 60 games in the last 4 years.
Other too free agents games played in the last 4 years
Allen Robinson 43
Sammy Watkins 53
Trumaine Johnson 54
Aaron Colvin 51
Andrew norwell 61
Tyran. Mathieu 54
Dion Lewis 36
Sheldon Richardson 57
Adrian Clayborn 49
Ryan Jensen 36
Justin Pugh 48
Zach Brown 46
Nigel Bradham 59

Are all of these guys “part-time players” @mgteich ?

That has nothing to do with Hoyer.
Hoyer is the only an under contract if you tell brady to F off because he wants to be paid only 75% of his market value

I dont think so.
You are watching a documentary and calling the man passive aggressive and lamenting that you don’t know his feelings. Of course you are creating something out of nothing. If you weren’t there would be direct quotes that support your position not tangential comments that you twist into meaning something they do not say.

I get a headache every time this subject comes up :p

Thats the part I think they want to avoid at all costs. They don't want a 44 yr old QB with a $21m dead cap charge - even if it's 10% of the cap.

Historically they are pretty good with dead money with jettisoned players.

2018- $2.5m (with more to come)
2017-$7.2m
2016- $17.5m
2015- $19.4m
2014- $18.6m
2013- $16.6m

I'm assuming they'll want Tom at 44 or 45 to have a dead cap around $10m.

Yes it has. Look it up. And, no, it's not the team's call. It's a contract change that the player has to agree to (which they almost always do).
There is no reason for a player to not do so. The player is NEVER the one to make that offer, it is up to the team.
If Brady’s contract does not gave salary converted to bonus it’s because the team didn’t want to not brady, so the comment putting the onus of reducing the cap number on brady is wrong.

I watched a documentary in which the main subject of that documentary had complete creative control over it.

You have interpreted it one way. I have the other.

Why in the hell would they leave a dead money hit for when he retires? No one would ever structure it that way.

Because you are making up things out of your imagination that weren’t said.
You literally called the guy passive aggressive and lamented that you don’t know what he wants.
I watch and hear what he says and take it for what it is. Big difference.

Tom is under contract two more years. No one is saying cut Tom.
If he says he wants to renegotiate and get paid in line with other lesser players you are saying F off if you want 75% of your value.

Happens frequently.

Nink left a $1m dead cap charge for 2017 and Mayo's was $4.4m in dead money in 2016.

I do think Tom is being totally passive agressive. You disagree. Fine.

If you follow my posts correctly you will see my say he deserves $25m and more but the Patriots will not pay him a 4 year deal with huge guarantees that leave them with a huge dead cap charge in his mid 40s.

A team at the pats level will always have tons of stress. The expectations alone will give you that let alone the nit picking on various things from form and technique to drills. Then B.B. is not going to be nice to people. I hear they really treat people nice and have *********** time in cleaveland though

They don’t have to leave huge cap hits at the end. Your argument is a straw man.
