Actually, I've lately been working my way through my recently-deceased mother-in-law's stash of older NYTs. I'm in 2008-09 right now, and some of those require three "sessions".

The NYT Sunday crossword is a shadow of its' former glorious self. The LA Times Sunday crossword puts it to shame BUT...you want to twist your gourd like a wet rag? Try the London Times crossword....make sure you have final expenses and burial costs taken care of though.

Yeah the London Times is the big momma of em all. Need a bottle of Jameson's to get thru it.
The old Atlanic Monthly puzzles, not strictly crosswords, could be tough as well.
NY Times just ain't that hard .

I've pretty much convinced myself that it's all about the guaranteed money.

Gronk only has the two remaining $2M payments on his last signing bonus coming to him in terms of guaranteed money ($4M total). Brate (reportedly) just got $18M guaranteed.

If the Pats extend Gronk for another two seasons, and convert significant portions of his 2018 and 2019 salaries to signing bonus, they could increase his guaranteed money to $20M or so, and all will be smiley faces in Gronkland. And the Pats shave $4M or so off his 2018 & 2019 cap hits each year.
