Wanted: Playmakers

Leighton Vander Esch quietly put up a monster season. I've never thought his tape was quite as impressive as his volume stats, but they're hard to argue against:

Thoughts on Armani Watts? Seems to be flying under the radar right now.

There are dozens of threads to discuss Brady / Jimmy. Mine isn't one of them. Thanks.

How about Mike Hughes at corner? Easy acceleration and great ball skills. I expect him to blow up the combine.

Finishing him up as we speak. Will post soon.

Really like him. VG Press. Doesn't get enough credit for off/zone play. Physical. Really good c.o.d. Can play outside/slot. +speed & burst.

Has to player lower coming out of stance but theres so much to like.

Small and questionable that he can take a pounding at the NFL level. What he CAN do is cover, though, and he would be afforded the ability to sit behind Harmon and McCourty, put on muscle, and learn. I think a 2nd would be too rich for him, though, and he may be gone by the third.

How do you feel about the off field concerns? They're pretty significant from the rumblings that I've heard. On field, he seems like a perfect fit, though.

This has to be a joke right. I ve never in my life want to spam any other post on any forum intentionally. Vita Vea is my binke from last year and maybe i got carried away. I really like your stuff you are posting about draft, but with this i lost respect. Instead of funny or like button you could DM me and i would apologize for causing you hard time and that is it. Sure instead of DM to me, now you are crying to admins.
Admins you can delete all my posts and ban me.

Hey, sorry, I was out of line. I messaged you and edited my posts. Apologies.

Really like him. Seems to make a lot of plays when he's around the ball, he hits hard. I would like to see him here to eventually take over the Chung role in our team. Not sure what he's like at covering TE's though... But as a impact player controlling the centre of the field.. yes

What's everyones opinion on Kirk? I'm a big fan of him and would love to see him here..

I don't see him taking snaps over Cooks and Edelman. We have a speed backup in Dorsett already. Mitchell will be back. Hogan is solid -- while there is a need for developing a pipeline of young players, this receiving corp is a far cry from Kenbrell Tompkins and Kamar Aiken. Kirk is predicted to go somewhere between 20 and 40. That's too rich for me, given our defensive needs, even though I think that he'll be very good, and potentially elite.

NO REAMER YOUR MEANT TO SAY HE WILL BE THERE FOR US;)

Sadly i agree.. would just love to see him here personally think he could do very very good things!

Honestly haven't heard much bad besides the N.C. incident. Which it seems he might have been a little more at fault than Stewart? W/e the case between the two that's all I'e ever heard.
Coaches have spoken highly about the doing small **** like talking the media & saying the right things, just being available & accountable.

Might grade out the best of the lot bc he'll tear up the combine too

Dion Lewis replacement if he walks love what I see from this kid.

Reminds me of Darren Sproles, but with even more speed. Looks like a sub 4.4 guy, not afraid of contact either. Have to consider the competition though, may be a good guy to sign after the draft.

Barring any bizzare drops by others down the draft board, and if Rashaan Evans is already gone by 43 and VanderEsch isn't, then I would run to the podium to turn in his name.

Edit: my pick at 31? Sam Hubbard, for now.

I've mentioned Nwosu before, but I went back to review his tape recently, and I think he will generate a significant amount of interest in NE. Very good at timing his jumps to bat down throws, and always seems aware of passing lanes / concepts. He's a former safety, and it shows in his movement. He's not necessarily a great EDGE guy, but he could be an excellent chess piece in the same way that Nink was deployed at LB / DE.

I like this post. Nwosu is interesting - BB does like players that disrupt the play rather than being worried about their numbers.

Perhaps he does, but comparing Nwuosu to Ninkovich is comparing apples to oranges. Nwosu seems a strictly off-the-line as opposed to an on-the-line defender like Ninko, but not a 3-4 OLB either. His body has the look of a 4-3 OLB, because I doubt that he's stout/willing/instinctive enough to be an ILB in either 3-4 or 4-3 systems. He's also an inexperienced and unfinished product, so I would therefore not consider him until #63 at the earliest, no matter how well he tests at the combine.

Fair points. He doesn't line up with his hand in the ground as much as Nink did, and he's not as burly of a player. They have similar playing styles, though, and Nwosu does spend his time almost exclusively on the end of the line, albeit in a two-point stance. They're both tough, heady players who find ways to affect the play. Nwosu's teammates and coaches call him the heart and soul of the defense, and say he's the smartest guy on the field. His background is at safety, so he's comfortable in space, but he's still developing the technique and strength to set the edge. That said, he shows a lot of grit and "want to" against the run.

I'm intrigued by him as a replacement for someone like McClellin, whose injury issues may very well end his career. Nwosu appears to be a better athlete, more proficient in space, and probably superior as a run and chase player. I don't know that he would be a DE, but he could certainly spend time both rushing the passer and dropping into coverage. He could be a valuable piece of the puzzle, although right now I have him graded somewhere around the 95th pick. I don't think he'll last that long, though. I could be on board with 63, if we had a specific plan for him.

It wasn’t me that compared him to Nink. I do think, however, that he can be a 2016/17 Nink or 2017 KVN. And I doubt he’s a first round pick for us. It should also be noted that Harvey Langi will be back next year and he will likely play a similar role I imagine.
