JOSH IS STAYING!!

The only real issue is about the assistant coaches, who would be very much in the right to be pissed...

at the Colts, for jumping the gun and building a staff before they had a head coach under contract.

Did they do that to shame Josh into going there? It seems plausible.

Nah, the assistants have a right to be pissed at Josh. They either left other jobs, or stopped looking for other jobs, with the understanding that they'd be following Josh to Indianapolis. Josh obviously can't make things right with all of them, but he should try to do it with as many as possible.

Fair point, but I would be curious who exactly is affected and what the details are, such as if they were told by Josh that he was definitely going there.

the amount of people losing their minds over this is ridiculous. Firstly, people's memories are short - Josh's reputation will be just fine - and winning cures everything.

Secondly, is a man not allowed to have doubts. He needed to do what was best for him, his family and his career. Obviously it's not ideal to change your mind at such a late stage but what's worse? Making a decision now or having strong doubts but going to Indy anyway - that's not fair on him, the Colts or the coaches he hired - and it would liable to fall apart quickly anyway because of that.

He jilted the Colts at the alter - thats better than marrying them and then realising it was a massive mistake.

Well, some of them actually signed deals with the Colts (Matt Eberflus, Mike Phair, Dave DeGuglielmo). Others (I can't find names) were reportedly in negotiations as late as yesterday.

I am starting to think that between the Garoppolo trade and the way the super bowl worked out and the way the McDaniels to the colts took weird turns and now schiano staying put that much has not gone B.B.s way and some opposing forces have come into play. Lots to speculate on, but it will be interesting to see how prep for the draft looks

hey either left other jobs, or stopped looking for other jobs, with the understanding that they'd be following Josh to Indianapolis.

It matters where that understanding came from.

If it came directly from Josh, then yes they ought to be pissed. If it was from the Colts, lying to them that they were 100% certain that Josh was on board, then it's all on the Colts.

People back out on on possible deals, yet unsigned, all of the time. Sports, business, wherever. Maybe the Colts were impatient. They had to wait for the season to end, but tough... they also had to get a signed deal in place. They seemingly assumed too much, too soon.

You're stretching more than Plastic Man on this one. The Colts were working with the assistants Josh wanted. They weren't forcing assistants on him. Josh owns that mess.

We don't know many important details we need to know in order to meaningfully dole out the responsibility.

For all we know, the Colts were negotiating with the assistants that Josh had said would be good for them to hire, if and when he was on board.

For all we know, Josh wasn't talking to any of them directly.

For all we know, the Colts misrepresented to those assistants the fact that Josh was not signed.

For all we know, the Colts tried to get those assistants signed ASAP, maybe even to shame Josh into signing himself.

All of this is more plausible than Josh running the Colts staff hiring efforts, with no contract in place.

Does anyone here have good photoshop or video editing skills? This video would be PERFECT to adapt to the Mcdaniels situation:

Leaving that crap organization at the altar is so over-the-top spectacular that its been a long, long time since any Patriot-related event has given me this much pure pleasure. Twisting a####### like Doyel, Kravitz, Dungy and Irsay into pretzels so they're spraying spittle all over Hillbilly Heaven is deliciously hilarious. I love every bit of sour grapes, sore loser, whining baby BS that slithers out of their smelly pie holes. F### all of them. I just wish Grigson was still around.

Your stretching is getting worse. I'm just going to move on.

Can't agree with this. News of Josh re-thinking his commitment to the Colts leaked prior to the SB. These assistant coaches are grown men who should have asked a lot of questions when the rumors first appeared. They made their decisions knowing that Josh wasn't fully on board.

You're stretching worse than he is. Y'all need to stop that nonsense.

I love what happened. The truth, however, is that Josh screwed over those assistant coaches by misleading them. It is fair for there to be vitriol toward McDaniels regarding that.

I don't know those coaches well but I'm sure they have their own families that they had to uproot to move to Indianapolis.

It's not a good look but do I care? Not really, as he clearly prefers to be in NWE.

My guess is there was something he didn't like about the situation he was heading into.
Hey, until there is ink on the paper, nothing is certain.

Good, because you seem to be making no argument whatsoever.

The assistants Indy hired all had very deep past connections with the Colts GM Chris Ballard, much moreso than they had connections with Josh McDaniels. It is certainly likely. even CERTAIN. that Josh told him ahead of time which people on Ballard's list he'd like to work with, once Josh was hired.

You don't know if Josh McDaniels talked to those hires or not, if he promised them anything or not, or rather if all negotiations were only with Ballard, who falsely assumed that he had a coach on board.

Respectfully, your stance that all blame ought to be laid directly on Josh is fact-deprived nonsense, as far as we know right now. As unlikely as it may be, though, indeed you could be right. But there are no facts to support it and you continue to provide no facts whatsoever to contradict my best guess as to what happened and why.

This is hilarious news, and the only thing that could've made it better was if it was the Jets.

There must be some sort of agreement or deal behind closed doors between BB, Tom and Josh.
An understanding of passing the torch or such.

Or maybe, Josh just thinks the Colts suck and are a terribly run team from the ownership-down.
