Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

They are friends and teammates.

I can’t be wrong because my argument was you can’t judge a decision without knowing the facts. That argument will never be wrong.

You need to learn reading comprehension.

My part in this discussion was essentially standing in front of the lynch mob saying you need facts before lynching.

I said numerous times if the lynch mob came for butler i would be making the same argument in his defense.

When a crazy argument is being made (and the **** says about B.B. on this board certainly is crazy) taking the side of reason and wanting facts is not the wrong side of a debate.
Waste your time defending yourself all you want, but the crow is getting cold and it isn’t going to eat itself....

I have no issue with BB benching Butler if he had a bad week of practice, but when it became clear that Rowe, Bademosi and Richards weren’t getting it done, he had to put Butler in the game.

I love BB, but the issue is that BB has been so successful that he answers to nobody and there’s nothing that can be done to hold him in check. In this case, his ego just cost the Pats a Lombardi trophy.

I thought the most telling part of the Two Bills was when Kraft commented on how hard it’s been to manage the Bills. We knew Parcells was a drama queen, but BB is probably a nightmare to manage as well. In retrospect, i think I’ve been much to hard on Kraft, whose done a pretty good job holding it all together.

This is BB's equivalent of passing on the one yard line instead of running Lynch. To Pett, that wasn't the first time he had outsmarted him selves at the biggest moments, for BB, this wasn't going to be the last time where he enforces his iron rules at the biggest moments either.

So TB12 supports Butler, what do the BB KoolAid crowd say about that? IS Brady a malcontent to?
I would expect Brady to support a teammate. That’s who he is.
That doesn’t mean butler didn’t screw up.

She ignored me years ago, not really sure, for some reason I thought so. maybe not
You literally started that rumor... I Pm’ed you about it and you said you were screwing with him.

In 3 years no one other than people around here will even remember it. I challenge anyone to rewatch that game and watch our defense closely and conclude that Malcolm's presence would have resulted in a win. It wouldn't have. For crissakes, as I said to a friend yesterday, having Ty F###### Law at cornerback wouldn't have saved that game. Idiotic homer hysteria. We were beaten by a better team and we still would have been beaten by that team with Malcolm playing every snap.
Well that’s wrong.

You don’t think Butler being on the field over Bademosi and Rowe doesn’t give this team at least one stop? Please.

Brady needed just one stop to win this game. He never got it.

There is nothing to defend. I’m sorry your reading comprehension sucks.

Forgive me for not reading most of the 127 pages of this thread, but...

Personally, I think that BB's decision to bench Butler is going to end up in the top 5 worst football decisions he has ever made, on many levels.

First, and foremost, putting Butler in, would have forced the Gilmore vs. Jeffrey matchup right off the bat, because Butler would have been matched up with Smith. This furthermore would have moved Rowe to the slot to cover Agholor, and Chung would have been on Ertz because he is the hybrid backer in dime. All those roles would have been very familiar to these players.

As it is, Jeffery raped Rowe for 80 yards and a TD in 1.5 quarters and Richards gave up 81 yards. I don't have to bring up Bademosi's missed tackled in the 3rd because the damage had already been done.

Now for whatever Butler may or may not have done- it is still undeniable that he is a hard-nosed, scrappy player who is very competitive, and that kind of attitude rubs off on other players, on defense.
If that decision is one of 5, what were the other 4?

So you guys (and gals) think Butler would say anything different, he's a free agent, he's being smart to get a contract. If you still don't think anything happened, then I don't know what to tell you.

My reading comprehension may possibly be the worst in the world, but you still have crow to eat.

This is like Mike Martz refusing to run and keep passing against a 2001 Pats dime defense. This is Pete Carroll not using Marshawn Lynch. Belichick refused to win the game using his free agent-to-be CB

Good for Tom, it still doesn't mean anything except what he wrote.

Didn't say it did (though there are several implications here, whatever the reason).

You said he "liked" the post. He did, and then he did more than that. He threw in with Butler - I doubt the coaches like that part, as THEY KNOW that it heightens the criticism they'll receive.

So many people here really don't get how this stuff works. I do. I work in entertainment. There are consequences to (even) "likes."

Well that’s wrong.

"Please" what? What does that mean?

We were beaten by a better team and we still would have been beaten by that team with Malcolm playing every snap.

Maybe, if he was to play a DT. Their defense was at full strength and allowed 613 yards, ours was without CB #2 and having guys playing out of their usual assignments. Butler could have played against Smith with safety over the top or solo against Agholor.

That would require ****head to admit he was flat out wrong.

"Please" what? What does that mean?
It mean please stop with your take.

Butler being in this game gives this defense the best chance to stop Philly, period.

The defense couldn’t play any worse, so the whole “Well Butler wouldn’t have helped anyway!” take is just lazy and wrong.

At worst, you lose in a similar fashion. At best, he helps make the stops necessary to give Brady that shot to win the game.

We already know the “at worst” scenario. The “at best” one was taken away from us because of Belichicks arrogance.
