Dear Bill - Thanks for Giving Away the Super Bowl.

That's horsesh*t! That wasn't it and even if it was you still put him in the game. Nothing was working. Your defense kept giving up big 3rd downs.

Butler , according to Butler, said the coaches lost faith in him.

Whose fault is that?

The person responsible for not playing in the Super Bowl is Butler, not Belichick. Had he not lost their trust and faith he plays. His teammates should be furious with him for screwing it up.

You are assuming things that probably aren’t true. You understand that, others don’t.
I assumed it for the sake of discussion.

Being more specific - this type of rumor - sourced by Jeff Howe - persists. If it's true (which I'm assuming it is just for the sake of discussion) - then Belichick deserves criticism for the manner in which he executed his plenary decision making authority.

Butler f.cks up

It’s Belichick fault

except that it was impossible to do any worse than what was happening....didn't have the corners to cover 3 starting WR's .... except you had one on the bench......in the superbowl, there's no excuse for it......it was not a scheme thing, because if it was, Butler would have at least gotten a chance when they saw the scheme was f*cked, which was pretty early

Sad thing is that Bademosi usually makes that tackle that he whiffed on...**** happens I guess.

Its what fans do. I get people are pissed off and upset. I am too.

BB makes mistakes. There are dozens of them to count.

My beef with some of these posters is:

A) They think it was just some dumb rule Malcolm broke
B) Do Your Job is a punchline.
C) They haven't a clue how you create and maintain a winning culture

Agree completely. They must be proud of their participation ribbons.

can't blame butler for what happened on the field.....he's the only one you can't blame

I agree with the OP. Shameful waste of one of Brady's final years. This could be the last chance he had. 1 or 2 plays could have been the difference in this game.

Brady still showed he is god

Sure lets let Malcolm completely off the hook. Let's not make him accountable for his actions when the other 51 players and the entire organization are doing eveything they can to win the Super Bowl.

If you want a team in which the coach is selective and arbitrary pertaining which rules to follow and behavior is appropriate go root for the Steelers, Bengals or Ravens.

It's the freakin Superbowl.

I haven’t blamed him for what happened in the field, I blamed him for losing the trust and faith of the coaches. I blame their defensive performance on bad tackling more than anything.

Andy Johnson is a paid PR staffer on the Patriots paid to defend them at all costs. I heard this via unsubstantiated rumors so it must be true and I'll repeat this over and over without proof like the unfair Butler character assassinations

ignoring him makes the place much more sane

zero snaps.........I don't think that was the big picture at all......not after getting 100% through the playoffs.......if that is true, it would be the worst logic in a very long time
Whats big picture? Letting a player play even though the coach deemed him not ready to do his job on the field? Screw big picture. You need to be in the moment to make that determination.

Can’t blame Belichick for Butler losing the faith of he and his coaches, that’s on Butler.

Unless you believe that losing trust is the fault of the person who has been giving it, and not on the person who blew it.

BB probably lost more football knowledge in the 3 strands of hair in the shower this morning than I will accumulate in my entire lifte time.
However, even if you the Pats went play ground man to man and put Butler in just to cover SOMEONE...they'd have fared better.
You don't need to be a genius to see that. But you do need to be highly stubborn to keep the scheme going as pathetic as it was.

and guess what? Butler is the best tackler of the bunch

after 100% of the snaps in both playoff games, going to zero snaps was not a scheme thing that made any sense at all provided the eagles version of a slot guy (Agholor) is abusing the safety tag team they had on them and they did not bother to even give it a chance.........WTF do people say about the pats and halftime adjustments? what a crock

Jesus, all this anger and we don't know any facts to base it on.

If Butler broke team rules he deserves the punishment that others who broke the rules before have gotten. The happens all the time when colleges are prepping for a bowl game and kids get caught breaking rules and are suspended for the bowl game. Boosters are livid, because they want to win. What do coaches do? Stand with their principles. That may be what BB is doing here.

It is what makes sense anyway, and so I don't have enough facts to get worked up about BB making a mistake. I don't think anyone does. I trust him to make football decisions and team discipline decisions. I want to see substantial evidence before I am convinced that my trust is misplaced.

Butlers struggles in practice may not have even been that bad. I could see Bill making the move if he just felt like he couldn't trust Butler in a critical point in the game for whatever reason.

I think they value consistency over anything so a bad week in practice seems like a reasonable explanation. to me.
Yeah but the other guy who said he wasn’t even in the game plan would be even worse off, no?
