From July 2017, maybe it should have stayed in the dustbin of history. Tony's effort to stay "Edgy" or as "Edgy" as he can be...

Perhaps #37 should bring him into the back room and slap him around a bit..

Tony Dungy believes there have been five better QBs than Tom Brady since 1978

“It can be tough to separate the great quarterback from the great coach,” Dungy explained. “We have seen this in every era: Otto Graham and Paul Brown, Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi, Johnny Unitas and Don Shula/Weeb Ewbank, Terry Bradshaw and Chuck Noll, Joe Montana/Steve Young and Bill Walsh. I don’t think Bill Belichick would be Bill Belichick without Tom Brady, and Brady would not have the same success without Belichick and the way they have put that team together. But the one common thread through 15 years was Brady. When they had him, they won big — won championships. The quarterback has so much to do with it.”

I can name much more than five coaches I’d want ahead of Dungy. Always thought the label of great coach was too often applied. If not for the flu in very early 2007, he’d never have won anything. And don’t get me started on resting players a month before playoffs...

I see why the older generation is so up in arms about what kids are being named now. They're used to names like "Weeb".

And "Bart". I gotta wonder how many kids, especially Wisconsin kids, have been named "Bart" since the early 1990s compared to the late-60s/early-70s.

It’s better than the nowadays Dweeb.

You know Dungy might be right that Tom may not be one of the top 5 individual QBs to ever have existed.

But, I would stipulate that football is a team game and that as a team player Tom is the greatest QB to ever have played the game. While some of these other QBs might have had great offensive performances, Brady has put defenses in good position to execute the team strategy as laid out by the coaching staff.

Not to mention, he's done more with less offensive talent. He's elevated all the players around him to be better (by recognition and offensive line protection assignments/call outs, ability to process the game, ...)

You'd think Dungy would have know about the whole team game concept. But then again...

Old story already discussed to death here.

And when it came out most of the media pretty much collectively rolled there eyes and told Dungy to stop being a bitter soar loser.

You’re overthinking it. Brady is the best.

I know what you mean though, thankfully Super Bowls aren’t given away at the combine

Dungy has a losing record in the playoffs.

Tom Brady has the best playoff record as a QB.

Not hard to see why Dungy wouldn't be able to appreciate that.

Dungy as a coach.( with a HOF QB for most of the time)

11 years in the playoffs with a 9-10 record.

6 ‘one and dones” and in those 11 years, he won more than one game in a playoff year only twice…..
---------------------------

Brady

15 years in the playoffs with a 27-9 record

Only 2' one and dones' in those 15 years in the playoffs and he’s won more than one game in a playoff year 9 times.

mic drop.......

Dung as a HoF coach is a joke.

Dung as a expert on QBs is a joke.

The fact that he is on my TV tonight is a joke.

Not to get into a political rant, but this is the sports equivalent of the media pandering to what people WANT to hear.

The ability of some to delude themselves is sometimes quite amazing.

But I suppose this is all about profit, not truth and the NFL and NFL media know that there are fans of 31 other teams who will just eat it up whenever someone like Dungy shovels such BS into their mouth
