At a nearly unheard of 4.5 points, the Patriots are gigantic Super Bowl favorites, according to the media (and the increasingly annoying Eagles players.). You have to go WAY back to 2015-16 (that’s two entire seasons) when the Panthers were favored by 5.5 over the Broncos.

Anyone else getting sick of this narrative of how the Eagles are so disrespected and that this is David vs Goliath? Everyone is picking the Eagles to cover, if not win outright. Remember in the 90s when the 49ers were 20 point favorites over the Chargers?

Can I have Things That Have No Impact On the Game for $1000 Alex?

What was the line last year?

Eta: recency bias is a big part of the narrative. It reminds me of SB 50 when everyone was hyping Cam and Co after they won in a huge blowout in the NFCCG and then sucked in the SB against Denver who barely made it there after beating us.

my sarcasm meter is flashing...

I think it was around 3/3.5. An entire point different than this year.

Yeah. Not a huge difference. If the Pats were favored on the road in Pittsburgh this year, they should be favored against the Eagles. Mind you I do believe the Steelers and Pats were the 2 best teams in the league this year regardless of conference.

I half expect that some of the talking heads are picking the Pats just to advance the disrespect narrative.

I just hope we don't have the fiasco we had last year. Had a slow start and the falcons jump on us. Idk if they can afford that again.

I heard the line should actually be higher but there is huge money on the Eagles from delirious Eagles fans.

Could be erroneous .... something to consider.

I agree with your assessment of the Pats and Steelers (would be different if Wentz was still standing, though). The NFC featured upstarts feasting on bad teams. Minnesota played in a terrible division, for example. The Rams were good but raw.

The Saints and the Falcons were okay.

only 16 hours until we find out if the line was okay

Even with Wentz who was also overhyped, the Pats and Steelers would be favored over the NFC team. Maybe I'm wrong, but the recency bias is driving opinions more so common sense. Again it reminds me Baltimore/SF and Denver/Panthers. Both upstart teams went into the game with a ton of hype, but lost.

I set the line at 7...

Great value on Pats... better tomorrow, I'm sure

That’s where I set it too. I’ve got two grand in small bets on this with notorious pats haters.

I’m only giving three points or none depending. Funny how they want points yet brag all day about winning

I don’t get it. You set the spread at 7 points and then bet $2,000 giving just three points or zero points? That’s a lot of cash to discount.
