13 points allowed to the Eagles on Sunday will be far more impressive than 13 points and 28/114 yards rushing allowed to the weak 2011 Giants, that's for sure.

almost 30 carries and 114 yards is offensive to you if your gameplan is really tied to defending the pass?

may i ask why you would expect more from a defense in an offensive era, and less from the qb you call the GOAT???

he is the GOAT, but from 2007-2012 in the postseason, he absolutely did not play like the goat. at all.

I’ve got a house full of championship memories. You don’t have even one without Tom brady

love brady

best ever

frustrated with his underachieving in postseasons from 2007-2012

i am glad he improved and bb drafted jimmyg

it worked!!

Ok. I feel better about this now. I face a lot of brady haters everywhere I go . This is the only place where there aren’t too many

Yes it absolutely is if it's against that team. That's how we got beat.

The Giants were the worst Super Bowl champ of all time. If that defense was trash like that in SB XLVI against an inferior Giants team I'd hate to see what our last 2 Super Bowl opponents who were far superior teams would have done to them. At least the game would have been out of reach early I could have relaxed a little more.

Barring long term injury, JG was never a serious threat to Brady's job. Judging by his performance and demonstrated durability in 6 quarters of football... it was for good reason.

Wow page 2 got overwhelming with long posts. Anyone got a TL;DR?

I don’t wanna wait til I’m at work to read this.

I'm fine with Brady doing his job in the end and handing the defense the lead.
It's not as simple as "Brady/offense gave the D a lead so they did their job." If the QB/offense does a better job they hand over a bigger lead and/or less time on the clock.

SB46 is a great example. If Brady completes that pass to Welker (for the record, I'm on the it's-Welker's-fault side) then at a minimum more time comes off the clock. And given how shaky the 2011 defense was, it was the offense's job to not put the defense in a situation where one drive loses the game. So no, I don't think the offense did its job in SB46.

disagree

bb met with jimmyg everyday, personally and separately, and brady knew it.

do the math, please

bb sounded like a kid who lost his puppy on halloween explaining why they had to trade jimmy.

that is a lot of extra time bb put in, where he had never ever done that before with any of the other back up qbs.

you’re delusional if you think competitor brady didn’t know about that or think it could present a threat, bringing his own game up a notch.

dude, i hear you..i don’t live in ne anymore, so i literally avoid nfl or pats talk with others as much as possible, bcause people are suffering from Patsnoia. terrible disease!

lmao

If your reasoning was correct, Belichick wouldn't have scoffed at the question of putting JAG in over Brady after the KC debacle. He laughed it off.
Why should something that BB, of all people, says at a press conference be taken at face value??

If he was pondering starting JG, scoffing at that question would absolutely have been what he would have done. He wouldn't want any public controversy until he actually made the switch.

(That said, I do not think he was even thinking about starting JG.)

Finally, why be so sure that it couldn't be possible that a non-trivial reason BB picked JG was to push Brady? BB is great at psychological stuff like that (go google for that story Tony Gonzales has about BB coached him into blocking on a Pro Bowl kickoff return). For whatever the reason, Brady absolutely turned things up a notch after the first few games of the 2014 season, especially his pocket movement.

Me either, living in the Midwest and about to move to Colorado. I work for a bizzare company(Eaton). This patnoia is terrible. People get red faced and shout obscenities

that’s hilarious because i truly believe the pats fan in new england and doesn’t really leave, has no friends or family outside of ne, have a completely different experience than people like us.

lived in the southeast, to the midwest (chicago) and now back to the se, and it has worsened after all this for obvious reasons.

in general, though, our society hates winners, and throw in the Trophy Generation in 6 fantasy leagues on messageboards, and the Patsnoia is at an all time high.

but, i give people the head nod all the time in the grocery store or whatnot when they have pats gear on.

i have a massive pat patriot flag that i am honestly afraid to hang off the front of my house

And one more thing following up on my previous post...

So what if BB drafted JG in large part to push Brady? Why is that a big deal? For those of you who react so vehemently against the thought, why does it threaten you so much?

“long posts”?? short attention span?

here we go....

wait for it...wait for it...lmao

they have this weird man crush connection thingy and apparently believe brady is inhuman or a robot, always playing an A game.

it is very odd

i can see kids or maybe teenagers doing it, but not grown men

I think it's pats fatigue...like the 90s bulls, this is expected

Superbowls.... anything short isn't expected

Haters , fans or nonchalant people

Like anything else, people won't really appreciate it till its gone

I think JG was drafted as the eventual successor to Brady not to push him, he was insurance against a decline that didn't happen. I doubt BB would have used a highish draft pick just as a motivator.

And Brady didn't need pushing anyway, the whole spygate talk - implying Brady wasn't good enough to win Super Bowls on his own without his team cheating- would have been more than sufficient to do that on its own.

Except they played well in the SB compared to their regular season stats. Facts are not "off the rails". They are facts.

They played BETTER in the postseason than they did in the regular seasons. The offense did the opposite.

Again, pure facts.

The worst thing the D did in that game was an offsides by Nink and the football not rolling closer to a Pats player on 2 fumbles they created.

If that is seriously the only complaints, umm, that's pretty good.

I'll take 13 points allowed by our D this Sunday. Oh, yes I will.

But, will Brady avoid huge gaffes? We'll see.
These aren’t facts at all, which have been pointed out to you time and again. That you think Nink jumping offsides was the worst thing the defense did that day when they gave up an 88 yard scoring drive and lead speaks volumes. This is really quite simple:

1. Offense handed off the game to the defense with the lead.

2. Defense’s job was then to protect that lead.

3. Defense failed to protect to lead or even hold them to a FG.

4. Defense then tried to let them score because Belichick had no faith in them to generate a stop in that area and trusted the offense more.

Those four are facts. Meanwhile, in this thread, you’ve had to resort to making several things up (Brady’s footwork being different from 2007-2013, reason JG was drafted, JG being asked by Belichick to be in the meetings) or have been unable to source. This tells me that you you’re aware of the holes in your argument, but you’re going to stick with it purely out of confirmation bias instead of simply seeing things for how they actually were.
