I brought this up recently, but I have yet to hear this discussed on the national level, and maybe it's been missed, but I keep looking for it.
When NE was heading down to Jax in 2005, the media was talking about how amazing it would be if NE won 3 SBs in 4 years, and that it would be a dynasty, which would dwarf other dynasties because of the salary cap.
Fast forward to today, and there is a nary a mention of how epic it would be, to not only do it once, but twice. And, that's in the face of a cheating commissioner with a handful of owners.
I know WHY this is, but I just think it's funny.
There is no way on earth this is being talked about in the locker room itself, but there is no way those players aren't keenly aware where their place in Pats lore will be, if they can pull this off.
You'd have to figure the guys who have been there for a long time, and really don't the same kind of fan respect as the 2001-2004 teams, are staring down the barrel of a legacy that would easily be on the first dynasty's level, if not more impressive considering what Goodell was hired to do since 2006.
Also, throw in the idea it's far more difficult to play defense in this era than what it was pre-Goodell, due to the rules, the infatuation with points score/fantasy football/manipulation of ratings.
Anyway, we're getting closer to Sunday, and I've yet to see this discussed anywhere.
