I don't know if this has been posted anywhere on the board, but I just wanted the Patsfam to take a listen of how BB talks about Devin Mac. It really stopped me in my tracks, as I initially on had this on as background noise while I do my work editing photos. I actually had to rewind it and listen again. There are certain guys who reach a level with BB that few others reach . . .

THE GOAT (makes me smile every time I type that)
Tedy Bru
Mike Vrabel (BB said he never made a single bad play his whole career here)
Vince Wilfork
Troy Brown
Larry Izzo
Matt Slater
Willie Mac

. . . to name a few. Feel free to add to the list, but it's definitely the road less traveled. Job extremely well done by DMac. I still remember when BB gave him those encouraging words post game about how he'd stick with DMac no matter what when he was getting criticized for his inconsistency at CB. He has rewarded the coach and us for that patience. He is the glue and the eraser . . . quietly.

Oh . . . and there's other good stuff too.

One of my golf partners was a very successful HS coach around here and he insists that McCourty is the key player on the Pats.

Is that supposed to be a live link? Doesn't seem to be, at least not to my iPad...

One thing that isn't often mentioned is how durable McCourty has been. How many games has he missed in his career? I recall a short term injury in his rookie year but him only missing a game or two if that.

The safety group has been the biggest strength for our defense over the last several seasons. McCourty/Chung/Harmon are all good, experienced players (and leaders) who manage to stay on the field.

I watched a couple of the playoff games from the 01-04 run, and I definitely got nostalgic. But then, I realized. We've got a lot of those type of guys on the team right now.

TFB (still!)
DMac
Gronk
Develin
Chung
Hightower
Edelman
Amendola
Harmon
Slater

Even Van Noy, Trey Flowers, and a handful of others that I can't name off the top of my head fit that mold. This is a hell of a crew and we are privileged to witness it.

Someone tell me if I'm wrong, but I thought I remember when McCourty missed a couple games towards the end of the 2015 system the secondary reverted to something that looked alarmingly like the 2011-pre-Talib 2012 edition. McCourty moving over to FS changed everything.

But what about that front seven Mike? Do you feel good going against this Philly team with your front seven. Some guy tried to give Mazz stats to prove the Pats D is for real and that dumbazz Mazz says I go by what my eyes tell me. A lot of the Boston media is going to be eating crow Monday morning.

Shoulda drafted Dez
I always give my Cboys fan wife crap about how we passed on Bryant like, 3 times back in 2009.

I thought for sure that they’d move on from him this offseason with that big cap hit, attitude problem, and underwhelming on-field production, but the recent comments from Jones suggest that those idiots are keeping him for another year. I swear, that team will never learn.

Very cerebral player as is harmon. He is underrated. A lot of what the success ends up being on d, is how they align or what what they show presnap, and then what they do.
For me, keeping Harmon was a no-brainer. He seemed to be the typical kind of mid level signing that we’ve pretty much built the entire team around. He’s progressed very nicely during his time here, and I believe that he was a much better choice than overpaying for Logan Ryan, which is what many here wanted to do.

I remember either last year or the year before, some on this board were upset with McCourty’s “lack of playmaking ability” and alluded to him being overrated. Yes, guys such as Earl Thomas, Berry, Weddle, H. Smith etc..may gain notoriety due to statistics, but if you understand the game of football then you know he is just as important; if not more important to his team. He is a cerebral player, who assists in properly aligning the defense. He LITERALLY knows what every player on the field is doing on that respective play (offense/defense). Also, we don’t really know what he is being asked to do from play to play. That matters. Would you rather have a FS/SS with 5-8 INTS sitting home watching the SB like us, or a safety with maybe 1-3 INTS, but makes what may seem like an insignificant check to help the defense hold and win the SB?

Lastly and more importantly, he has been THE MOST DURABLE of them all. When has D-MAC ever had a major injury which resulted in him being inactive for long stretches??? Answer: NEVER

He’s extremely under appreciated by some, but not B.B. because he DOES HIS JOB.

During one period DMAC was denigrated on this board for the lack of turnovers he caused ergo he must not be doing his "job"... and that thread went on and on.

The reality is that he is dependable, smart, focused and a team leader..

Off the field he and his twin brother run a charity, called "McCourty Twins Tackle Cell"...

The McCourty Twins - Tackle Sickle Cell

HE DOESNT MAKE N E PLAYS LOL

I don't know if even some guys in our own fan base understand how lucky we are to have Harmon on this team.

Top notch post . . . for what it's worth.

I was going to mention this as well. McCourty seems like a good guy and has a great charity with Tackle Sickle Cell. I used to work in a hospital and would have to take care of sickle cell patients from time to time. Trust me, that is a great charity and it is well needed.
