Just another testament as to why the Patriots are so hard to beat- they can throw an infinite combination of personnel/plays/alignment at you all game long. And I think that's one reason why we always seem to start off so slow- we know we'll eventually hit on the right combination.

I get your overall point, but this was a case where the opposing OC couldn't do much more because of the liability he was working with at QB. You can call pretty much every non-run play in the world for Brady, which is always a huge edge, but a team with an average QB would not have had the same play calling issues that plagued the Jags.

Can't miss this. Pure gold for those who love intricate details of the game:

Just imagine if Brady was able to hit Cooks in stride. That's a TD. I'm not complaining though considering we saw in the 2nd half what happens if the ball is a little too far in front of Cooks. But damn, if only! TD!

Is it your position that the current Patriots LB corps is good?
Not great but BB knows how to use them to their strengths and put them in a position to succeed. Wish we had DT for this game.

I thought Solder had his best game of the season. His footwork was excellent and always forced Ngakoue to take a wider angle than he wanted to. That was evident on the TD pass to Amendola. Solder also manhandled him against the run. He's currently LIGHT YEARS ahead of where he was at the beginning of the season (likely nursing an injury or illness of some sort).

IIRC, there was some discussion at some point mid-season about Solder missing a couple of practices in the first few weeks for "personal business" that turned out to be attending some new weekly treatments that his son began receiving. He might've been not fully focused on football for awhile there.

Interesting points about the Jags abandoning man coverage.

Interesting that Hogan was not on the field for 3rd/18.
Both he and Burkhead had only one play each of consequence in the AFCC. If that's all they get from them in the SB, then the Pats will not win.
I would very seriously consider replacing Hogan & Burkhead with Britt & Gillislee, respectively, if they are not in better game-day conditioning next week than they were last week.

And after watching this video, I am more fearful of a Pats loss and of another missed opportunity to make history than I was before I watched it.
