However, they're talking about him "jamming his hand", not just a finger. Hope it's not his wrist bothering him.

I think I've dislocated every digit and the pinkie hurts the worst IMO.

I dunno know about the pinkie not being important to throw the football....

Hmmm. This story has some interesting conjecturing and addresses the "got a cut" and "got it X-rayed" things which at first glance seems like an odd combination:

TL;DR - the writer believes it is an "open dislocation" of a finger joint and the "cut" was actually the skin being torn open from the inside by the end of the dislocated and thus displaced finger joint.

pretty common expression..basically banging your hand into something and the hand bends more than it should
