NFL coaching and executives carousel: news and speculation

So the Bengals will decide to part ways with Marvin AFTER all the other top notch candidates have been hired and they will be left with tier 2 candidates..... That's so typical of the Bengals...........If it weren't for the Browns, they would be the worst run organization.....

They do kind'a share the same color scheme more or less. Must be that shade of orange/brown... Somewhere in there, in between... The twighlight zone of ****ness.

Giants are going with a full purge

Giants’ GM Dave Gettleman informed team’s assistant coaches today that they are free to look for other jobs without the Giants blocking them, per source. So Giants’ assistants now free to go.

Rick Smith says he'll retain his executive VP title but acknowledged the team could hire a GM in the meantime. This Texans situation remains one to watch right now.

Maybe it's just an Ohio thing?

I'm sure Bill has been preparing for both departures for at least 2 years bc of the most recent success by both.

Yes, Belichick has been prepared for the departure of the best OC and DC ion the NFL for at least 2 years.

However, the team greatly benefited from them being here this year (and for a long time before).

Almost all coaches have families so I doubt it’s any different for mcd than anyone else.
Matty P has a family.
I agree that if coaching is your chosen profession, then moving around often becomes a reality that families know going into the relationship.

But I mention it only that in this particular case, Josh's family have essentially been in NE since 2001, with the 2 year exception of the Denver/St Louis run, and she wasn't happy during that time. Now they have 4 young kids (under 13) all in school and happy. Now I'm not saying that this would be a major reason for him not taking "the perfect job", but I'm pretty sure it will be a consideration and perhaps a bigger consideration than it would be for most NFL coaches.

Where is the “she wasn’t happy” knowledge coming from?

Looks like BOB has won that particular war, at least for the next year he will have the power he wants, then we'll see.

Also they might try to extend him this off season, which will imply that his victory has longer term implications. At any rate it's clear that BOB's potential return to the Pats has been greatly over rated.

Lewis pulling a Favre, hanging the team out in indecisionland while everyone else secures new coaching.

IIRC correctly that after the Denver fiasco there were stories about her experience in Denver not being a happy one, and how happy she was when Josh re-upped with the Pats.

They got married in 2000. Josh moved to the Pats the next year. And with the exception of the 2 years stint in Denver/STL they have been in the same place for 15 years of their married life.

You know me Andy, I'm not one to go and research articles to prove a point. There are others who like to do that. All I know is that when he got back after Denver I had the strong impression that that one of the reasons he hasn't left yet is his family and his reluctance to move them again.

Not sure Smith’s wife contracting a deadly disease means bob won anything. He appears very much in the hot seat.

Flores and O'Shea/Schuplinski will do a good job. Not worried too much especially because they know the in and outs of every thing in Foxboro.
IIRC both BB and MM openly gushed about Flores.

Yeah, kinda remember stories doesn’t seem like stein reasoning to me that a coach will pass up career moves.

Again not really meaningful by itself.

Ok then it’s a feeling. Understood.

Plus that steakhead running back hit on her at a party when he didn't know she was JMDs wife.
