Seeing how they gave up 183 yards on the ground vs BUF and Drake pounded the rock last night, I'm wondering if Valentine still makes more sense.

Disregarding Volin's commentary, some odd snaps distributions on both sides of the ball last night.

The big problem yesterday was the 3rd down.

Miami converted all of them that I can remember with exception to that when Cutler could've run for the 1st down. And as far as I watched the Patrios were 0/9 in 3rd downs.

-The O-line is shaky.
-Brady is not comfortable with something, either the OL, or his ankle, or both.
-No Edelman and no Gronk AKA the chain movers, absent at the same time, that's a big problem. We need someone to take over the middle, we only have Gronk. I had big hopes for Mitchell but I think he is headed to become Dobson part 2.

And of course, Miami had a great game, kudos to them. Cutler played a good game, their RB's, insane D#, Gaze with great play calling, they have a good team on paper but yesterday they finally put it all together. It's a rare event but it happens.

Not sure what to think about next week, maybe we got caught on a look ahead spot? Hard to believe this would happen in a BB coached team, but it happens, I had a bad feeling about this game and after our first drive it seems like the whole team knew that would be a long night.

I think that's more on the lack of LBs than on the DL. I was frankly surprised that they activated Wise and sat Harris. Harris might have been able to plug the A-B gaps, leaving the other LBs (and Chung) to focus more on edge-contain. That also might've allowed Chung or another DB (instead of Roberts) to cover Drake lined up wide.

As it was, it looked like they eventually brought Rowe in to play a sort of "Star" role (and he actually had a couple of run-stops in the middle).
Lots of runs to the outside. Expecting Wise and Lee to be KVN and Flowers is not realistic.

The stats show since the TB game and before the BUF game the run D has been good.

I still think they have a little but of a problem with runs between the tackles but the edge setting will be solved with health.

Hard to grow confidence if you're ignored/marginalised.. these things go both way.

VV and MM are both seen in locker room more last weeks. Hopefully both are ready to go and BB waits with designation (which has to be done on first day practicing - an anti-rule to me btw) to see who's needed more..
Please tell us you don’t feel sorry for Allen. Who gives a crap if he’s ignored?

Either you perform or you don’t. No one cares about their “feelings” come game time

Ummm, well they got Hogan back this week and Amendola's been the chain mover most of this season so I don't know what you're talking about.

Boy was I off on Hogan/Dorsett. I figured they would ease Hogan in and w/ Gronk out play Dorsett more.

He didn't even see the field.

What the hell was our game plan? On both sides of the ball?
TB looked like he's playing hurt.
Our O-line was a sieve.
Why suddenly were Brady & Cooks not on the same page?
No matter what his blocking skills are, Dwayne Allen is too steep a drop off from Gronk at TE.
Maybe Gronk does owe us that apology (he certainly owes it to Tom Brady)
Are Jacob Hollister and Philip Dorsett even on this team?
The shotgun snap out of 3rd & 1 when we are desperate for a 1st down? Really?
Should Miami be investigated for putting cement in the Patriots' shoes when they weren't looking?
Elandon Roberts is too small or too light or too something to tackle when people run right at him.
Why is the middle of our D line so weak?
Malcolm was chasing a lot of plays again.
I'd rant about the refs but we were playing so bad I can't really think of where they screwed us over rather than us screwing over ourselves.
God I hate Miami. Strutting around like a bunch of roosters, in contrast to the Pats looking like Chicken Littles. Ugh.
I turned off the sound when Chuckie suggested that the Pats overlooked their opponent this week in anticipation of Pittsburgh.
While I don't think the Pats would do that, you can't help wonder about our game plan, or lack thereof.

Ok rant over. Boy was that game bad. Can't believe the Pats embarrassed themselves like that. Onto Pittsburgh.

My dad (also a Pats fan) was giving me a hard time about this game because we lost to the Dolphins and Cutler, no less. I tried to explain to him this is the annual "trap" game, but he didn't get it. Miami has given us problems, probably the heat and humidity. Not to mention these rivalry games are always tough. But it seems like we were just "set up" for a game like this. We were on a roll, good streak going, and face the Dolphins who have nothing to lose along with some talent. I also had a bad feeling going into it because I've seen this before.

In spite of playing 90% of the offensive snaps, Hogan didn't look anywhere near to 100% last night. I was surprised that they didn't bring Dorsett in for 4WR sets to at least draw some deeper coverage.

I thought Hogan hurt his arm and not his legs.

Nice to see Harmon go off on his teammates on the side line trying to get them going.

He did get the defense going, actually. The 'Fins offense produced 44 yards and five punts, post-speech. It was interesting to watch MP standing silently in the circle letting Harmon rant.

This game was not good granted. I want to bring up one positive aspect though. Even in a bad game, the pats put themselves in position to have a chance. I’m not worried, this happens on the road sometimes. Reminded me of a Denver or k.c game

Hogan didn't practice, much less take game-speed snaps, for five weeks. It isn't like flipping a switch.

And, no, it's not possible to run at anywhere near game-speed with a bad shoulder.

Considering the performance of Hogan/Cooks might as well have let Brady have a "practice" session with Dorsett.

Maybe Hollister too.

Hopefully the plan was to let Hogan knock off the rust.

It was exactly as close as the final score.
