Josh Gordon

People said the same think about Corey Dillon and Randy Moss.

As far as I know Gordon is his own worst enemy but I don’t remember any stories of him being negative as a teammate & when he is on the field he seems to give 100%.

Corey Dillon and Randy Moss were never suspended for just a shade under 3 years.

I still can’t believe they passed on Justin Blackmon

Sign the beast

Why would the Patriots bite on a guy who has nothing but problems since he entered the NFL??

Gordon has played in 7 games in the last 3 seasons, the Pats do not seem to be the type of franchise that hangs on to a guy that causes this much aggravation and distraction..

What always pissed me off was during the Brady Brouhaha, #12 could not even venture on the field with the Pats.. however the Commish allowed Josh to practice with the Browns, makes no sense to this fan..

He hasn't done anything to the public like drunk driving (that we are aware of) or getting into fights with teammates.

But he has hurt his teammates by showing a complete apathy in past and preferring drinking/drugs over team-meetings.
He's been surprisingly honest about it all over the past couple months. People who are faking recovery wouldn't be so forthcoming about their problems. I'm hoping he does stay clean cause his talent is amazing.

Also...
Goodell probably screwed him on purpose by the way by delaying his return to the NFL so that he only plays 5 games this season, one game less than the 6 needed to count as a served season, and hence he will not be a FA until after next year.

No doubt Gordon is a tremendous athlete and has made so many screwups he's lucky to be alive. I seriously doubt anyone in the Patriots org were interested in him when he was doing stupid stuff and getting suspended numerous times. I hope he sees the problem and turns himself around. Those are always good stories.

I think they were interested but coming close to making a deal, not sure.

Bill saw Chandler Jones have one slip up and he sent him packing. He wants to TRUST his players.

There is no way Bill would take Gordon on.

Wrong.

Bill saw how he couldn't afford Chandler and sent him packing.

His career won't go anywhere in that dumpster of a franchise. He's a RFA coming up soon i believe. I wonder if he would take all the money to stay in a dumpster like that. Browns might overpay to keep him.

Gordon is RFA at the end of this season. Even the 1st-round tender amount is only $4.15M - the equivalent of a 1-year "prove it" deal.

It seems unlikely to me that Gordon would hold out for more. And, it sees a near certainty that no other team would be willing to beat the tender amount with an offer that the Browns would deem prohibitive, AND give the Browns a 2018 1st-round pick should the Browns decline to match. Gordon doesn't really have any options of his own (aside from retiring) until 2019.

If Gordon stays clean and performs near to his perceived capabilities in 2018, then he may have a market in 2019. Gordon will be 27 next April and 28 in April 2019. A team that has recently acquired a franchise QB and is 1-2 pieces away from challenging for a SB berth, AND has lots of cap space with which to take a risk, may ge him one big 3-4 year contract at that point - assuming that the Browns haven't successfully extended him or franchised him by then.

That dumpster fire has wasted careers like joe thomas.

He's one of the most fun players to watch in a long time. Glad he's back, hoping he somehow finds his way here.

They both had a history of domestic abuse which is a hell of a lot worse than testing positive for weed.

Randy never laid a hand in anger on a female in his life.

The mom of their two kids (who was tripping and Randy tried to calm her down) never pressed charges. Even the woman's father said Randy was not the problem.

The money grab in 2008 had no charges filed.

"I want to make something clear, in my whole entire life of living, 30 years, I've never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner," Moss said.

I like how people assume that Browns were open to trading him
I'm sure the Browns were open to trading him... but what makes hypothetical Josh Gordon trade discussions asinine is that, 90% of the time, the fan proposing the trade throws out some completely-lopsided offer that favors their own team.

I've seen this on so many different fan websites. It's always like, "oh, yeah, I'd totally give the Browns a conditional 2024 7th round pick in exchange for Gordon! Yeah, I would definitely take that gamble!" If the Browns were only going to get a horseshit return, why would they trade him at all?

It's sort of the opposite of the Jimmy G situation, where delusional fans here were saying things like, "ha, yeah, Jimmy G is a FQB. The #1 overall pick is a bargain. Either the Browns give us the #1 overall pick or we're not trading him. It's that simple."

What about quitting on their team?
Moss has a history of quitting on their teams.

Moss basically did not show up for a playoff game on a great team in Minnesota because they would not let his possee on the field.

Belichick will take a chance on a player with a checkered past if he thinks it will improve his team.

He gave Albert Haynesworth a shot.
He signed Bryan Cox in 2001 “great move” because it was a position of need.
