My personal expectations have been low for this particular season, simply due to the complexity of the system and the low likelihood of an outsider contributing much, but I think you’d have to be fooling yourself a bit if you think that Dorsett is on the same page as Brady and the rest of the offense.

Hopefully, he puts in a strong offseason of work and shows up big in his 4th NFL season next year. He obviously has some raw talent and speed that would work out well, here. He seems to be willing to block and put in the work. Fingers crossed.
If a receiver shouldn’t be expected to get on the same page by week 14, then their is something wrong with the system.
Personally I think it’s how he is used, the other talent on the field and whether he gets open or not, not that he is out there not knowing what to do.

Lining up wrong on one play, IF that actually happened (because we are discussing this based on one poster thinking he remembers it) is not “he doesn’t know the plays”.

I was knee-jerk. Overall I think he knows the plays but I'm guess not to the ultra-detailed level that Brady expects so he can have confidence in throwing his way.

If Brady wouldnt throw to him if he is the progression and is open he wouldn’t be on the field. It would be like playing with 10 and we have other players who could be out there.

I think there is BB and Josh's standard....and Tom's standard.

Weather report: Miami
Clear and cool....high 50's at kickoff Monday night

Michael Floyd had 4 receptions in 2 games. Probably twice as many targets. I think I remember a couple drops. Brady seemed to give him more looks with fewer practices.

Floyd (6025/230) was near the end of his 5th NFL season before joining the Pats. He had played in 73 regular season games + 3 playoff games, with 474 total tgts. He was the leading receiver for the Cards in 2013 & 2014.
--- He had 5 catches on 9 tgts (56%) in two regular season games and one playoff game for the Pats for 51 yds (10.2 ypc) and 1 TD.

Dorsett (5096/190) is currently in his 3rd season. He had 26 NFL games worth of experience and 98 total tgts before joining the Pats. He was the #6 and then #3 passing target for various Colts QBs over his two seasons.
--- He's had 7 catches on 11 tgts (64%) for 140 yards (20.0 ypc) in 12 games for the Pats.

Not really his fault when he is standing there wide open without a defender within 10 yards and could walk to the end zone and Brady throws it to someone else.

As teh Floyd example and up suggest, I don't think you can attribute his lack of targets simply to missing training camp. I'm not writing him off by any means, but there has been a need with Hogan down and he did not step up.

I like cannon but i am starting to wonder if he will even suit up against Pittsburgh now. That would suck big time. We need our O line to be strong for that game.
Still in a boot this week so apparently a pretty bad ankle injury.

Must have been a big time ankle injury. It has been a month and almost two weeks. Well gotta hope that o line holds up against Pittsburgh if he doesn't play.

Both Waddle and Fleming have played well. I'm not concerned about the OL. Don't ask me about edge defenders.

I hate monday games, my sundays become that much emptier...

FWIW, for the 'Fins ...

OG Bushrod is OUT
RB Damien Williams is still OUT
- (Kenyon Drake, Senorise Perry & DeVeon Smith are left)

LCB Tankersley is doubtful
SS Thomas is questionable (DNP all week)
-- not much missing from their defense (injury-wise)

With Moore OUT, Cutler's backup is David Fales.
(I'll just leave that there)

The announcers pointed to Dorsett not moving up/over when they changed the play at the LOS, forcing Brady to call the TO, but I don’t know if it was the Bills or Dolphins game. Maybe someone else will know the time that it occurred. I believe that is also when they quoted Brady on Dorsett’s progress as saying “he’s coming along.”

Not trying to give you a hard time- was just wondering if you remember that specific play. I don't.

At any rate, Brady forcing Dorsett to realign is not the same as Dorsett not running the route called for, on the play. We all know how anal Brady is about alignment, especially when it's on a changed play or an alert, based on what he senses is coming.

And again, I have yet to see Dorsett mess up a route. Perhaps someone else has.
