Guess who's coming back to the Pats this season? (Maybe)

I'm not giving up on this yet. Pats reportedly want to take him off IR. I say do it.

That would be great in providing an experienced, reliable target for Brady in the postseason, although the 2 biggest questions I’d have would be:

—would he be worth a damn, considering how rusty he’d be? We’d have to get him in a week or two of practice and maybe even some meaningless (fingers crossed) reps in week 17 to try and knock some of that rust off.

—would Belichick actually carry Cooks, Hogan, Amendola, Mitchell, Dorsett, Britt, and Slater on the roster? That would be 7 total WRs, which is about 2 more than usual. At the very least 1 more than usual. I wouldn’t want to cut Dorsett or Britt because I think they are providing good value on cheap pacts, and would want to get a look at how they respond to a full offseason + TC. There’s really little reason to cut either player prior to TC, in my opinion. Both are former first rounders who could provide better competition than what we normally see outside of the “locks.”

I think he might - for the playoffs. Depends on the ST impact, since none of these guys are contributing on coverage units or as blockers on return units.

With Ebner on IR and King apparently having re-injured the hammy that had bothered him in the first half of the season (and Slater with a season-long chronic hamstring issue), the chances seem fairly slim.

I like mitchell a lot but if both guys are healthy I much rather have valentine back. Hogan and Cooks should be enough along with amendola. You still have Britt. I hope he picks up the offense.

I believe the reason nearly every article and tweet specifically points out that Mitchell is more likely is because he's the only one even close to healthy.

That's my impression too. If it's anybody it's probably Mitchell, simply because he's probably the one who physically CAN. I'd lov emore

Mitchell could still be a big asset IMO, the dude was money down the stretch last year and in the 2nd half of the Super Bowl. That comeback doesn't happen if he isn't clutch as hell.

Would hate to see his career fade after that rookie year.
