Just Imagine if Gronk... Grassy Knoll Super Merge

"Sure, James Harrison assaulted his girlfriend, but he didn't hit a guy after the whistle! That's wrong!"

The point is, just pure yardage itself is not the best barometer for QB greatness. It CAN be, but it can also be due to pure longevity as well. Kerry Collins and Vinny Testaverde are each in the top 16 all-time in that stat! That's what makes YPA an important modifier to pure yards.

Oh, absolutely.

Brittle Ben chucks it into double coverage for 20, then 10...and an interception.

Brady pops it for 10, 5, and 6...for a couple 1st Downs.

Of course, Brady's moved the chains twice, while Roethlisputz has turned the ball over...again...But that's OK: Burger's got 10 YPT to Brady's 7!!

Once again, it's all about styles. Brady would have never survived behind some of the lines Ben had to play behind in the years when he was getting sacked 40-50 times a season.

Riiiiiight. Because the Patriots have always had terrific Offensive Lines...like in 2015, when we played the Broncos, 6 on 11, for the entire Championship Game!!

Suggesting that a moby like Roethlisputz is in the same league as Brady is pathetic.

I would be curious what the combined record of the Bills/Dolphins/Jets is since Brady came into the league, and what his record is against those three.

It's been posted, many times. IIRC the winning percentage, Brady vs. the AFC East, is about 79% combined.

Which is LESS THAN the winning percentage of Brady vs. the AFC North, which IIRC is about 82%

It is also roughly equal to he winning percentage of Brady vs. the entire league (now precisely 77.7%)

bottom line: there is no evidence whatsoever that Brady would have had significantly less success if he had played in any other division. It is pretty much statistical noise: he wins 75 plus or minus 5% of games vs. teams in all divisions, well... except for the AFC North, which he obliterates much more thoroughly.

I am just sitting here reading all the moronic posts about Gronk losing his temper and jumping on someone and all the posts about how amazingly well Jimmy G is doing in San Fran and how much we miss him and hope he does well. I then started thinking, what would have happened if Gronk had jumped on Jimmy instead.

Now I sit here and listen to people tell me this is the worst thing that has ever happened in an NFL game, and Gronk should be kicked out of the league forever and can only wonder...................

Gronk jumping on Jimmy you say....With your "unique" imagination you'd be best served working in the gay porn industry as a director. Good luck and Godspeed.

Oh, yes, you did. :D

OK, I looked up the facts:

Tom Brady Career Splits | Pro-Football-Reference.com

regular season records, Brady vs.

AFC East 74-19: 79.5%
AFC North 24-5: 83%
AFC West 21-12: 64%
AFC South 24-5: 83%
NFC East 13-3: 81%
NFC North 14-2: 87.5%
NFC West 10-5 67%
NFC South 12-4 75%

Brady beats 4 divisions at a higher rate than the AFC East, including the woeful AFC North (7-2, 78%, vs. Pittsburgh alone)

Another angle on this...

Brady vs. the AFC East in the regular season:

NY Jets - 24-7
Miami - 21-9
Buffalo - 27-3

Those 72 wins are 37.3% of Brady's total 193 regular season victories.

Roethlisberger vs the AFC North in the regular season:

Browns - 22-2
Bengals - 21-7
Baltimore - 11-9

Those 54 wins represent 40.3% of Roethlisberger's total 134 regular season victories.

Roethlisberger is getting more of a benefit by playing in a "weak" division.

What if Gronk had done that to an African American Jewish LGBTQIA Immigrant baby seal? Could you imagine? Then maybe you would all see how ridiculous of a play it was.

No trolling! And 6 years later, Ben is still not that far behind Brady. He's close on yards and TD's. Still has a chance to challenge SB titles but Goodell is doing all he can to prevent that from happening.

No he doesn't. Ben is not winning 5 Super Bowls.

This is getting to be ridiculous. I keep having to go back and rewatch the play because I feel as though I must be missing something.

I see Dorsett tapping White while he’s down and then I see Gronk coming in a second too late with his elbow extended and falling on the guy. Obviously, he was meaning to send a message and that was wrong of him, but I don’t think it was nearly as bad as some have made it out to be. I do believe the 1 game suspension was justified, although I wouldn’t have been shocked to have seen it reduced to a large fine, either. Those who were talking of 4-6 game suspensions and signs of CTE are overthinking this quite a bit, at least in my opinion.

He didn't extend his....... Oh never mind. I'm not sure why I'm so hung up on a meaningless point anyways. :D

Yards is one thing, but what about yardage efficiency?

All time Yards per attempt:

Ben: 7.9
Tom 7.5
Eli: 7.0

The stats speak for themselves. Ben has been the most efficient of the three over their careers. (Roethlisberger is actually tied for 5th all time in this stat. Eli is 82nd!!) Early in his career, Pit was still a run-heavy team, so he doesn't have as many career attempts, and hence, not as many yards.

The same case could be made for the TD differences.

Passer rating: Ben 93.8, Tom 97.8

Bell is not in the conversation as the best pass catching back of all time. He's not better than Marshall Faulk, Allen or Tomlinson.

Just imagine if Gronk changed his name to Adam Seward !

He said we would all get to revisit that claim in 5 years. :D

So would you please show a little patience. His "What IFs" take time to develop into "What Isn'ts".
