Gronkowski Apologetic, But Frustrated Over "Crazy" Calls After the Game

i actually think there will be a positive offshoot from this.....you know BB will be sending tape to the league of the treatment gronk gets

They have been sending those supercuts of Gronk getting unfairly ref'd for about 7 years now. Why would anyone think that the way Gronk gets ref'd will ever change ?

Because you're being stupid and talking out your ass.. That's why it's funny. There is no way that could be considered assault and battery. Just stop while you're behind..
it is assault and battery actually

He deserves a game suspension and that's what he got!
I'm surprised he snapped the way he did. A bad look for an otherwise stellar guy!

I suspect that several other big, physical pass-catchers ("marquee" players) have been getting a similar double-standard treatment by the refs. Maybe this will induce them and their teams to speak up.

Apparently the coaches are okay with what goes on between defensive backs and receivers. Or they are afraid of retrubution if they complain. We all know what the rule says. But why do refs confinually allow grabbing, holding and shoving by both on most plays? Could it be a good way to control the game?

Cam Newton is no pass-catcher, but he's been complaining in the same way Gronk has for years and years. And I have always agreed with him--you can see it on the screen. The guy can get mauled several times a game and no flag. Observers and sports reporters say the same thing over and over: "He's just so big... and he doesn't go down."

Maybe a little objectivity from the refs would begin to offer the correct answer to what Gronk and Cam have been enraged about for years.

Defensive players will get some leeway from the refs when they're trying to tackle guys that are particularly hard to bring down. Always been that way, always will be.

Is a receiver running a route before the ball is thrown someone who they should be "trying to bring down"?

No, and the refs should have called that, but if you're talking about a broader tendency, you're probably going to be including some plays that would have been flagged if the player was not a 270lb tackle breaking beast.

All of the stuff that went on between the Steelers and Bengals could have been avoided. I watched some of the of early part of the game. It was pretty chippy with Steeler players doing a lot of piling on shoving and pushing and yapping at Bengal ball carriers after the tackle.. The refs let it go and pretty soon it got real.
It will all come to a halt when a player dies on the field from a viscous hit.

The worst part about this is not so much the suspension but that Gronk has now earned a reputation as a “dirty player”. He’s stuck with that reputation from now on unfortunately.
