Gronk gets 1 game

Saying Gronk hurt the team do belichick needs to punish him by hurting the team makes no sense to me.
He got his punishment, a suspension.

I can’t see B.B. saying to teach you a lesson that you did something that could hurt the team and could and did get you suspended I’m going to make a decision that hurts the team exactly the same way.
Actually I was thinking the teachable moment would be to make him inactive for the Bills game, but in reality, the real reason would be to protect him from injury from a vengeful Bills team who would like nothing better than to take him out.

Of course no Gronk makes the Pats worse, BUT....

It is most important that gronkowski is healthy for the three playoff games than anything else.

A week off gives him extra time to heal some of the ache and bruises.

Cmon now. I love Gronk too, but let’s see things objectively.

The Bills CB was lying on the sideline out of bounds, stomach down, and Gronk drops a cheap shot people’s elbow with all his weight on the guys neck. Comparing that Alonso hit not even remotely close.

That was a BS cheapshot by Gronk. Even BB agrees.

I don't blame Alonzo for going after Flacco. Where he deserves the flag and the fine was delivering a forearm blow directly to his head. That was what was unnecessary on the play. It was the same kind of forearm shiver that he unnecessarily threw at Brady on a pass rush....without any call. The hit might have been MARGINALLY late, but I didn't think so. What I DID object to was the forearm blow.

BTW- in my mind Gronk's hit was worse because he had a second before he went after White.

BTW-2 - I know this isn't the way it works, but truer justice for the Bills would be that Gronk's suspension be carried out for the Bills rematch. That would seem fairer in my mind.

BTW-3 - We all know that Bill is pissed a Gronk over this. Not only because it was a bullsh!t move on his part, but because he hurt the team. I think it wouldn't be beyond the pale that BB makes Gronk inactive for the Bills game later this month. THAT would be the ultimate lesson to the big guy. Just sayin'

Can anyone find a video clip with the play whistled dead? I'm fast forwarding through my dvr to see what is heard live as I type...still waiting.

"Play until the echo of the whistle"-damn near every coach I have had.

Oh please. This isn't about whether Gronk tackled someone just before or just after the whistle. When the whistle blew is completely irrelevant here. White was OOB, lying down, and defenseless, and Gronk clobbered him in the head. That was a dirty cheapshot whether it was before or after the whistle and deserved a suspension either way.

Lets see...just recorded the live feed...you all should be able to hear a lack of whistle until gronk "touches" white down...video I took is too large to upload. If you have the game dvr'd, go back and watch it live. No whistle. You play until the whistle.

If anyone needs a 1 game can it's the god damn refs. Blow the ****ing play dead. I have no issue with gronks suspension. Call the rules as written and it never gets this far. Call the game equal on both sides in regards to gronk...this never happens.

The facts:
Gronk was boned by the refs this game.

There was never a whistle on "the interception" prior to gronks hit.

Fraudger should suspend the entire zebra crew without pay for 1 game for allowing such a play to occur. I believe it wasnt blown dead due to the shock nobody else on the crew threw a god damn flag until Amendola had his helmet ripped off and gronk hit a player that was down.

The Goon should suspend the crew he instructed to screw the Pats?

oh wait...I get it. Wow , that's pretty Machiavellian of Scumdell..

I agree the hit was excessive. No whistle was blown so the runner was deemed "live." There is no whistle blown on the cable feed until after Gronk took his cheap shot.

I am not defending the nature of the hit, but it occurred during a LIVE football play as officiated on field. The circumstances lead me as a fan to say eff the refs as things had been called that day (holding 87 just prior), and have been called against gronk for literally years. Gronk as a pro? No excuse. Then again, no whistle, so what if White gets to the EZ...he's Gronk and has a shot at a gnat flying within arms reach...

In a slow motion vacuum? The hit looks terrible, especially the back side look. I ask everyone to watch the live shot. No whistle until after the hit. The whole interception/hit/whistle time frame is literally less than 2 seconds.
So, start your stopwatch:
Gronk pushed my cb at top route by cb, gronk goes down and cb kinda comes back to ball while going down with the int. Dorsett comes flying in to touch cb down as gronk gets up and lays the hit. Whistle blows. Stop. Less than 2 seconds have elapsed.

LIVE PLAY

Caught in process of going to the ground...can still be made a drop?

How many live play hit excuses can be made?

Again, not justifying what happened, but if taken in a vacuum without a clear OOB prone player, 15 yard roughing penalty at worst. Watch the clip live. 1.7ish (less than 2 seconds but closer to 2) seconds between push at the top of the rroute and the whistle after gronks hit.

Didn't BB at least hold Welker out of a game for making light jokes at Rex's expense once?

The point I'm getting at is I think Gronk would be sitting out Miami. BB highly respects players of every single team. Including his own team. And that hit was at the expense of an opponents saftey and the record of his own team. I figured he would've been in the doghouse for a game.

No he wouldn't, the Welker thing was different, he told everyone to keep their mouths shut leading up to the game and Welker didnt. You guys should know BB by now but some of you don' seem to.

It was a series not a game. Is January 2011 that long ago for some people ?

And I’m sure BB didn’t tell his players to hit opposing players when they are out of bounds...

Interesting poll at Pats Pulpit, which I imagine is favored by Pats Fans, they have; 66% agree, 21% say it is too harsh, 13% say it is not enough..

Unless that site was infiltrated by some sort of "bot"..

What I do not like is he is barred from practicing or working out at the Pats Facility..

POLL: Do you agree with Rob Gronkowski's one-game suspension?

Come the f on, White was 3 feet out of bounds and on his belly. Whether or not the whistle was blown technically, the play was over for a second or two before Gronk even got turned around. His football IQ is too good by half to write him a pass for failure to recognize the play was over even if no whistle ever blew.

I think that's pretty accurate. A lot of fans were probably braced for the worst when Gronk gave the league a chance to hit us again. Also I think Pats fans are a bit more knowledgeable and self-critical as a group than most other fanbases, we know Gronk deserves some punishment here so 1 game is pretty moderate

Bill is not going to assume the role of player safety protector. He'll let the league play that role. His role is to win football games.

His role is to build a team that does its job. The team's job is to win games.

Did that hit look like Gronk doing his job?

I think that we can't rule out the possibility of Bill sending Gronk an additional message about how unacceptable that play was.

The ironic aspect of football is that it’s actually all about bullying.

You kick some guys arse all day and you can get in his face and laugh about it (trash talk).

Personally, I doubt that he’d do that to a player who’s been a role model his entire career. One instance of losing his cool is ok

I'm no expert on NFL discipline, but it does seem incredibly inconsistent, and I wonder if anyone really is.

A few weeks ago when all the fights were happening, saw several different places talking about how the NFL usually doesn't suspend you if you were ejected. That seems stupid to me, like a red card in soccer being a completely different punishmeht at minute 10 than minute 89 of a blowout.

So I wonder if Gronk got ejected, does he get suspended now? And if that's the case, isn't it the refs fault for not ejecting him?
I think you meant to say, Even Ben Volin could have googled the correct answer to that question?
