i thought this was about Hogan lol

I don’t know either why mankins get so much love around here. He really wasn’t all that great. I think that the line has actually done better since his departure.

"Logan Mankins is everything we would ever want in a football player. It is hard to imagine a better player at his position, a tougher competitor or a person to represent our program. He is one of the all-time great Patriots and the best guard I ever coached."

Well the team has. No rings during mankins entire time here and 2 since he left.
Of course that doesn’t mean he is the reason, but I’d listen to arguments that while he was a consistent pro bowl caliber player he was nowhere near that in big games.

And the dolphins quarterbacks are outstanding.

That could be an incorrect memory on my part. I recalled it was tied to his performance after he (Hannah) retired, but could definitely be wrong on that. I couldn't find an article documenting that statement.

#Integrity. Well played, Sir.

Yeah I don’t think James had any of those issues like eason.
He played 2 years with Hannah was good in a more limited role the first year and all pro level the second.

The guy I remember from those camps was mcginest. He was literally shaped like a Y. First nfl player I eve saw that had the upper body of a DT and had no fat.

Do you remember Bruschi's ecstatic expression after they did wind sprints there the season after they won the first Superbowl?? Biggest smile ever..

Another thread comparing Mankins to Hannah got me thinking......not sure some here realize just how good he was - he is still arguably the greatest guard of all time

he defined the term mauler......he was just nasty

i know some of these have been linked before....

Fair or not, I'll always remember Mankins getting abused by the Giants in big games.

James was an excellent player, unfortunately he was injury prone, retired because of a bad shoulder, but injuries stopped him from possibly being one of the best backs in Patriot’s history. That SB season in 1985, he was great.
Agree but Hog had a problem with him?

That's fine. Hog was very critical of his teammates. It would not surprise me he called out James for some innocuous thing. I just didn't remember

Comparing Mankins to Hannah is like compaing Grogan to Brady, just not fair.

Hannah had a bit of a personality problem, but that's not uncommon with great offensive linemen. They put their hand in the dirt looking for a fight.

Hell, Hannah doesn't even think much of Brady and Belichick.

I was at some Patriots Visa points dinner with an alum at the Stadium thing a few years ago and Hannah was the alum.

He was all "Brady is good, but we'll see if had have been good if he was playing back in my day." And "Belichick - hmph. It's all the players."

Like I said, I knew Hannah a bit back in the late 80's and it was pretty much common knowledge at the time, he could be a bit of a ****. From your comment, I guess time hasn't mellowed him much.

Apparently the resident version of Chuck Bednarik. And I am sure Bednarik would call Hannah a tubby wuss for not having to play iron man football like him.
