Post Game Thread Pats @ Bucs

Thursday night games are always weird and often poorly played. At the end, all the W's count the same (well those in the division and conference a little more). We have not played well, so any W now feels good. We could not beat the sad sack Eagles at home in '15 without Edelman and Gronk.

Roughly as ****ing ignorant as saying "I have a vague suspicion that football fans are borderline domestic abusers."

And I hate anime.
FYI: I took that as humor

Pregame, the gal sideline said this was the biggest game in Tampa since 2008

NFC S is brutal, dirty division
Second only to AFC N

OT Anyone esle have general issues at patriots.com?
Opera/Chrome/IE 11 fail.
UC Browser works, but it chokes.
NFC South right now is far superior to the AFC North - just do not have the low-scoring cold weather games.

Things I plan to look for as I re-watch the game film:

1. I want to take a look at our blocking on play-action plays. IIRC, at least one sack and a Brady fumble were on play action. Not sure if it a blocking issue.

2. I am going to try to keep track of the defensive coverages the Patriots used. Romo claimed they were in zone for the most part, but I would like to confirm it.

3. For the most part, the number of blown coverages were way down. I am curious if this is a function of the Bucs not employing the offensive concepts that gave us trouble: zone read/ run pass option, bunch formations, pre-snap motion from empty sets, etc.

4. I want to take another look at the Blown coverage when we had the Bucs downed inside the 5.

5. I want to compare the Bucs play-calling before and after the BB challenge on the sack .

Providing perspective. The andyjohnsons of the forum are coming out of hibernation with their I told you so's about the defense. The incompetence of Nick Folk saved us today.
************. If Brady doesn't miss a wide open Hogan for an INT and if Cooks holds on to the ball, it's maybe a three TD win. See how if if if works?

Maybe you're right. I'm just a little protective of that poster because I think they've been given a lot of ****.

It wasn't a matter of trust. It was a sound football decision given the circumstances.
Understand, and apparently you didn't read my entire post. Just saying that it appears to be a trend and something to monitor going forward.

I agree.
Bungles, Browns, ravens all look Baaad.

Dirty. Not necessarily better.

Pit especially, "Taking a man out"
intentionally hurting a guy is "part of the game".
Fans demand it, support it.

Copy that. I have not been hanging out much, so I don't have any context.

Communicating this way is difficult, tone of voice, snark is hard to convey.
Therefore emojis, which I tend to dislike.
They remove doubt about the tone,
but take some of the ...something
out of it.

No their kicker missed easy field goals

Defense played better. Don't get carried away

Yes, the Bucs FG kicker should be dinged for missing the short FG of 30 yards.
He also missed a 50 yard FG and a 55 yard FG. I don't know the % for FGs of this range being converted, however, even casual fans know FGs at these distances are not "easy". Calling them easy is a silly, un-serious statement that should be reserved only for the game day hysterics collective.

I was at the game tonight, was there any discussion of why it wasn't intentional grounding and a safety when Winston threw it out of bounds when they were backed up in the end zone? Brady threw it away in Super Bowl 46 and they called it then.

The refs tonight were atrocious.

Winston sucks! He reminds a lot of a poor man's cam. The games will only get tougher. Brady can't keep taking a beating and the offense has to do a better job in the red zone. Find a way to win out before the bye. That game against Atlanta will be a litmus test.

Brady threw it right down the middle of the field with no one around, when all he had to do was what Winston did, which was throw it away to the sideline. That was the difference.

I wish I had the bar set so low. At least you're happy
I get where you're coming from in trying to provide some context to a game that we barely won. That said, I would find it hard to dispute Andy's claim that the defense looked much better, because they did.

The truth about the defense's improvement will be seen in the coming games. We should be able to continue the improvement with the Jets. That may help to provide some momentum for the Falcons game, which will be a huge test. I'm not going to bed thinking that all of the issues are solved, but it's good to see them take some steps forward.

Ah, yes, the old Drew Bledsoe Special.

Or they backslide and end up where they were before this game. Anyone can speculate.
