A curious thing about 2-2

I thought the Panthers played very well. Pretty good play calling, especially on Offense. The designed QB runs late in the game were back breakers as were our defensive hands to the face penalties.

We cannot expect to win, even with Brady, if our Defense gives up 30+ points per game. A 4 day turn-around limits what we can correct. Should be fascinating to see how we do on Thursday.

Go Pats!

The OL is playing well below the level of last season and deserves just as much attention as the secondary.
Disagree. I think this has been their true selves for several years and Brady's fast release was hiding the truth. Now that he has to hold the ball because of the by design/by necessity deep stuff the OL has been exposed.

More like 3 days, since Wednesday is likely a travel day. I’m sure today and tomorrow there will be game planning and the team will have 1 day of actual practice tomorrow.

Brady seems to take more of a beating without edelman out there as an quick outlet.

It's not a lack of talent or lack of effort. We have the talent but what we lack is proper communication. That is coachable and we will get better. We have to wait and see how much better we can be.

I just hope we win at Tampa this week. I don't know what it'll take but we MUST somehow get away with a win and BB and coaching staff will have a good 10 days to work on these issues.

Go Pats !!!

Yeah, there's this. The Patriots gave the Panthers too much time out of fear of scrambling, but with time to throw Cam looked like he did two years ago when he was basically impossible to stop. The Panthers played and called a good game, and they used a lot of trips and motion to confuse the Patriots' defense. They also have a very good defense and the Patriots went through it like a hot knife through butter.

McCourty has been particularly bad. I've never seen him look so out of sync. Not sure if it's him or Gilmore to blame.

When they let Ryan walk, someone mentioned how familiar McCourty, Ryan and Harmon were with each other having played together at Rutgers and now with the Patriots. Might be something to that.

So, they've already given up the same number of TD passes in 4 games that they gave up during the entire 2003 season. That's pathetic in and of itself, but the fact that both HOU and CAR were some of the lousiest offenses in the entire league says a lot, too, as does the amount of yardage, big plays of 20+ yards, 3rd down conversions, etc.

Watson scored 5 TDs against Logan Ryan and the Titans today so maybe Houston is better than we though offensively.

Sure, but at the time of both games they were a joke, so they found their rhythm against this defense.

The running game seems to have weakened considerably too, compared to last year.Blount obviously faded in the playoffs but he was a joy to watch in the regular season. Mike Gillislee is no Blount, he needs to show more...much more.

Unless they had a first round bye, anything from a #3 seed down obviously has to play a WC game, so it's possible that they wouldn't even see the divisional round, let alone the AFC Championship.

They'd have to win the WC game then travel on the road to a place like Arrowhead, Mile High, etc just to battle in the divisional round. While they came close in 2006, no team in the BB/Brady era has ever gone to the SB without having the first round bye.
This is a little misleading of a comment.
They have only not have a first round bye 3 times. 2006 when they should have gone to the SB and I won't go into that here 2005 and 2009. That's a very small sample size.

not a lost cause, but losing us games. plural, already. and it's early in the season, with no sign of improvement a quarter of the way through the season.

I'm wondering what happens if Gilmore gets benched? Does he blow up and become even more toxic, or does he buckle down and get to work? I think he's too big a cap hit to be cut and unlikely a trade partner would be interested in swallowing that poison pill. So maybe he ends up suspended if he can't toe the line?
Put down the pipe.

For long time fans, how did you feel at 1-3, 2-2 in the previous SB years? Im assuming 01 was a shock.

If they hold Winston under 300 yards and Tampa scores 20 I will be impressed especially at their place and maybe it could be a turning point. I wanna see a pass rush.

What if they get a 40-37 win? It's a win...but you can only last like that so long.

You take the win anytime you can get it but the defense will still be a concern. It makes you appreciate a lot what brady did in 2011. That defense was able to create turnovers as well but it's difficult to see that time and time again.

We've been 2-2 five times and went to the playoffs in all of those, and won 3 Superbowls if I'm not wrong.
