It's official, the defense is garbage, it's already week 4, being very optimistic they fix that by week 8, I'm already on shutout mode for the whole regular season and hoping the defense clicks somehow in the playoffs.
As I explained in the preseason, not only will Gilmore torpedo the defense this season, but he might well bring down the whole franchise for the next four or five years.
What's frustrating is it seems to be Gilmore not understanding his assignments or switches. We shelled out money for that guy...Surprised they invested so much in someone so quickly if so. Hopefully I'm wrong.
It seems to always be Gilmore, which is odd considering how I've always heard about how much he studies his ass off. Either that's a lie or he's not comprehending the study.
1. It isn't hard to complete passes when NO one is covering you. I have never seen this kind of breakdowns on D since 2000.
2. It should be noted that it should have been a 3 and out on that drive - This time it was a simple matter of tackling technique.....and it cost them 7 points. PLUS whatever they might have gotten.
3. There is pressure on Brady, but overall the pass protection has been decent, and the run blocking much improved
4. Our run game has been better than theirs. Gillislee is just a c-hair away from breaking one open
5. The run D has been good - but our all world secondary have had on brain fart after another.
Now let's see how this is remedied or not. Because here's the thing - It isn't a matter of lack of talent, but rather a lack of smarts. It's been so long since we've seen so many F-ups that it is particularly shocking.
IMO, we need to simplify things defensively. Just run cover 3 or something every-time and make Cam beat us. Way too many blown coverages passing off responsibilities during M2M.
Been saying the same a few pages back. Given the amount of breakdowns I think we really need to simplify things until we can play more "complicated" coverages at a competent level. Gotta grind out two wins today and on Thursday and then use the mini BYE to work through the issues that motions seems to cause to the coverage.

LOLphins got shut out. I doubt even the Patriots secondary can make Jay Cutler look good.
What the hell is this 2009?
Both TDs by the Panthers were on blown assignments. Totally fixable with a hard man-to-man. Just put Gilmore on Funches and tell him to shut him down. Period. That shouldn't be to hard to understand.
i can't believe a BB coached defense with only one new guy in the defensive backfield can be so wholeheartedly out of whack! They are busted coverages everywhere!!
They might have to play zone, just so they can't screw up who covers who?
