WR Malcolm Mitchell on Injured Reserve

It makes all the sense in the world. Since the slot was well manned by Edelman and TE by Gronk if BB thought Mitchell could be anything other than a backup, he wouldn't be trading his 1st rounder for Cooks.

And Ty Warren wasn't that hot, btw.

How does trading a first round pick for Cooks make Mitchell a Jag?

Not sure where your jag line is set. Mitchell is a starting caliber receiver. To me, that's not a Jag.

you are so stupid you dont even know where you were strawmanning

and stupid people claim Cooks was brought here because MM is not cutting it

You should really think about getting that GED

Here dopey, this is the definition of strawman.

"Substituting a person’s actual position or argument with a distorted, exaggerated, or misrepresented version of the position of the argument."

I did no such thing. I simply noted BB's actions do not support the notion that MM is anything more than a JAG.

Are you one of these imbeciles that figures if they call somebody stupid enough times it might stick even if it's ridiculous? Hey, it probably convinces other stupid people (like you).

Well, with Cooks and Edelman, MM wouldn't be starting, would he? Why would BB give up his #1 for a starter if MM is a starter?

And what in the world makes you think MM is starting caliber, the guy can't even stay on the field. He's about to miss at least 75% of his first 25 NFL games?

Yeah. I'm out of this.

Punt...

Say MM is a JAG and the homers go berzerk, lol. But he CLEARLY is. Maybe not even that. Even a JAG can be available for more that 25% of their first 25 games.

Had the best rookie season for a WR in this offense since Branch. Had 6 very important receptions for 70 yards in the Super Bowl as a rookie. But yeah, I guess he's a JAG. Good call.

Yeah, the list of rookie receivers from BB is a stellar bunch the whole league envies, good call, lol.

Yup, I'm way out of it. I say Brady played well when he took care of the ball and we scored 27 points mostly due to him and I say a guy who will miss 75% of his possible games (or perhaps more) in his first 25 is a JAG.

Crazy stuff there. No wonder the experts here are all over me on this, lol.

I can only imagine the freak-out when the real truths come along.

I'm inside the house riding out a hurricane for the next 48 hours. I'm game.
hope you are okay.

and don't lose power or 'net, the show must go on!

2016 snap counts per game available for pass-catchers:

Hogan = 55.8
Edelman = 54.6
Bennett = 56.4
Gronk = 44.4
Mitchell = 38.4
White = 26.6
Amendola = 22.2

To me, "starter" is a meaningless designation in today's game-planning NFL. Even Edelman didn't actually start every game last season (13 of 16).

Hogan = 15 games available, 14 starts ... 3.86 tgts/game available
Mitchell = 14 games available, 6 starts ... 3.43 tgts/game available

Both Hogan and Mitchell had 4 TDs in the regular season.

Mitchell had a slightly better catch rate than Hogan ... 66.7% to 65.5%.

Hogan had his route/role specialties and Mitchell had different route/role specialties.

So, I really don't understand what you're expecting to see from Mitchell that would make him not a JAG in your estimation.

The comparison is Branch, who went on to have a successful NFL career. You're more than welcome to call him a JAG, but at that point, it would become clear that you're even further disconnected from reality than we all think. Mitchell, quite clearly, had the best rookie season since Branch and put up a very good Super Bowl performance for a rookie playing in the Erhardt-Perkins. As for the rest of the rookie wideouts in the BB era? The words you're looking for range from either bust to JAG.

I would agree that "starter" is a meaningless designation in today's game-planning Patriots. It isn't as if other than the slot we have had much of a top end player manning the WR role. Moss and now perhaps Cooks would be the exceptions to that.

What you're claiming is like saying MM is awesome compared to most of the WRs BB has drafted. Yeah, he is, based on that very low bar.

Well yeah, if you consider him only in the fishbowl of Patriot non-slot WRs BB has drafted, he looks pretty spiffy.

I'm the one disconnected from reality because I look beyond the fishbowl in my judgement? Thanks for the chuckle.

No, I am NOT claiming anything, and nothing in my post comes even close to "being like saying that Mitchell is awesome". That comes very close to putting words in my mouth that I did not say and then making a straw man argument - something for which I have ZERO tolerance.

I posted statistical information about Mitchell's usage and performance and posed a question to YOU about why YOU think he's a JAG. And you have yet to address that question.
