Shocks, Surprises and Disappointments

I'm surprised at the Brissett trade. I didn't like him as a draft pick but he showed me something that made me want to keep him.

I'm honestly shocked at the Karras cut. Didn't think he was even slightly at risk.

I'm disappointed at Lucien getting cut. But I think he might be back. I think his waived/injured status is sort of like Bill licking the cookie before offering to share it.

After the Karras cut I was telling myself " I need some koolaide"!

Koolaide, koolaide, tastes great.
Koolaide, koolaide, can't wait.

Time will tell if these deadline trades were desperate moves by a team that planned poorly this offseason....or simply opportunities that presented themselves under a new cut down system.
That being said, the lack of premium draft assets on this roster is worrisome long term and depth is an issue because of it.
Agree!! The drafting the past couple of years has not been very good. Add to that the lack of #1's and you have a team with a mediocre bottom half of the roster. They are thin on D. Love the Dbackfield but linebacker and D line is thin. Better hope everyone stays healthy or this team will be in shootout every single week. This offense is awesome but having to win every game 35-34 is not a championship recipe.

I'm shocked and disappointed, but not surprised, that there are posters here that want certain players to fail because certain other players didn't make the roster.

It amazes me that anyone thinks they have a better ability to gauge practice and preseason performances than Belichick and these coaches do.

This is exactly what people were saying after the KC game in 2014, they have won two Lombardi since then and have the best record in football since then. They allowed the fewest points in football last season.

News flash, the fans don't know 1/1000 of what Belichick and his coaches do regarding football and personnel, those who think they know better are mentally ill.

The drafting the past couple of years has not been very good.

The tactic of being noncommittal of both the timeframe ("past couple") and which end product is being referenced ("not been very good") doesn't fly well round here. What draft class? Which picks?

Year after year the organization competes for the title, so much so that they are usually in the top eight if not the top four in the entire league overall. Yet, here we are again after a roster cut down bemoaning the staff's acumen and ability.

Results on the field, not in fantasy.

I'm a bit puzzled with the OL but I won't judge it before I see what Scar does with them.

The way I see it we have an awesome defense and even without Jules we have an awesome offense.

Wasn't expecting the brissett trade but that's just bill being bill. I love it.

Seems to me he wanted to improve on special teams and he did it, we'll see how that works on the field.

I still don't understand what Richards is doing on this team but whatever.

I sometimes think BB knows what he's doing, but then I read this board to get myself set straight.
good idea. we won't let you be misled by the pile of Lombardis in his trophy case.

Disappointments: every…single…move…made by this clown car of a front office
during this weekend.

A work in progress...

...wait until he's done.

I was thinking more about these cuts last night n came to the conclusion that when it comes down to the Ol (n with every position group) it's Bill's call but as it pertains to the OL Scar must have a lot of say n if there's anyone whom I trust it's Scar!

Winner

Every year the same posters make the same criticisms because Belichick and his staff don't draft and keep their binkies. Their success never matters because their binkies didn't achieve. I don't think they actually watch the games as they are too immersed in next year's draft class.

Is there a new definition of "couple" that I'm unaware of?

I sometimes think BB knows what he's doing, but then I read this board to get myself set straight.

That's because those criticizing them like the Bill's and Jets rosters more......

I drink the real stuff, Kool-Aid. Don't settle don't for that knockoff, it's crap. It's like buying your wife a Prado handbag for Christmas.

Things I learned researching Cole Croston.....

CC played 223 snaps this preseason, more than any other Patriot.

A bad game against Northwestern and a bad foot senior year kept him from being drafted.

His father Dave who also played tackle at Iowa and played a year for GB has a wiki page while his son doesn't.

He might also be the back-up punter as Cole was the punter for his HS team.

The fact he can play both tackle and guard made him more valuable than Karras.

2017 NFL Draft: Who is Cole Croston? 5 things to know about the Iowa OT

From a different article, same site, after he signed with the Pats:

"At his March pro day, Croston jumped 32.5 vertically, which would have topped all offensive linemen at last month’s NFL combine in Indianapolis. His 3-cone drill time of 7.38 seconds would have ranked third. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.21 seconds, which was in the top 15."
