If he can go 17 of 28 receiving for a couple hundred yards as the #5 WR, and handle the vast majority of punt returns for a 12+ yard average, the Pats will have gotten what they needed in exchange for Brissett.

Yes, you want a guy catching punts with around a 50% catch rate.

17 of 28 is a 61% catch rate which Dorset have never pulled off in regular season games that actually count. I dont care about fake preseason games where a scrub can look like the real thing.

He doesn't drop half of his passes, you are misstating that.
The question is though, why he has a lie catch rate.
Players with high catch rates often catch many short or behind the line passes to enhance their percentage. If the vast majority of his passes are 10+, 20+ beyond the line a 50% rate is not bad.
Not all routes have the same chance of completion.
