This injury thing is, somehow only 6 weeks in, beyond a normal down season for health. It's actually absurd. I'm at work rn, but will update later with a timeline and who/their position.

Is this a staff issue? Are these guys not getting the conditioning they need?

Edit - Update with timeline:

Aug 5th: Jake Andrews, C, placed on IR (undisclosed)

Aug 20th: JaQuae Jackson WR, placed on IR (knee)

Sep 5th: Christian Barmore, DT, out for season (blood clots)

Sep 18th: Oshane Ximines, LB, placed on IR (Knee)

Sept. 25th: Ja'Whaun Bently, LB, placed on IR (pectoral)

Sept 28th: Alex Austin, CB, placed on IR (ankle)

Oct 3rd: Cole Strange, G, remains on reserve/PUP, no timetable (knee)

Oct 4th: Caedan Wallace, OT, placed on IR (ankle)

Oct 8: David Andrews, C, suffered a torn rotator cuff, out for season

Oct 13th:

Vederian Lowe, OT, ankle, will not return to game
Layden Robinson, G, inactive for game today (ankle/wrist)
R. Stevenson, RB, inactive for game today (foot)
Joe Cardona, LS, inactive for game today (calf)

Is this any reflection on Deron and his assistants? Or should we just chalk it up to a tough year? Wondering what you all think.

Aint it Mayo's brother ahaha
From the Pats team website:

COACHING
Deron Mayo enters his first season as head strength and conditioning coach and his seventh season with the New England Patriots in 2024. Mayo joined the organization in 2018 after playing linebacker for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League for six seasons. He leads the team's year-round strength and conditioning program following attaining a master's degree in high performance sport from the University of Technology-Sydney.

Deron Mayo was hired by the Patriots as the assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2018.

So reading between the lines, he learned everything from Moses Cabrera.

If the team wanted to make a break from Cabrera, why promote his assistant?

I was thinking of starting a thread about the same exact thing. Who is the coach? who ever he is he isn't very good

Was wondering about the nepotism myself
( being Jerod‘s brother and all). But after checking: Deron hired 2018 / Jerod 2019. so he couldn’t have directly given him the job.

But BB wasn’t going to not take Jerod’s call & good odds (very likely?) BB took him on as an assistant based on a Jerod asker.

How are "blood clots" a strength and conditioning issue?
Andrews torn rotator cuff (for a Mankins like SOB) and Bentley's pectoral are just unfortunate.

The Andrews and Bentley injuries could conceivably be conditioning-related -- strength/balanced development, flexibility, nutrition, etc. Potentially everything but Barmore. But there's no way of really knowing unless you're on the inside. People laugh but the Brady/Guerrero program had a lot to recommend it, as unconventional as it was.

I'd agree that it's a strength and conditioning issue if we were seeing a lot of HAMSTRING and Calf injuries. But we're not seeing that. We're seeing a lot of JOINT issues. (Knees, Shoulder, Ankle) You can only do so much before you're actually hurting yourself.

How would anyone know? We're talking about players who throw their bodies at each other like torpedoes, or people in the trenches. Brady wasn't doing those things.

They workout to dancing with the oldies

Krafty Bob hired Mayos brother because he agreed to work for $10/hour and a slew of Patriot Place gift cards and Lighthouse passes

I know a bit having studied anatomy and kinesiology as part of my athletic coaching minor in college. A guy can be incredibly strong from weight training but prone to injury if his musculature isn't balanced and duly flexible, encompassing connective tissues. As I recall, Guerrero's clinic worked with football players of all positions. One thing his program emphasized is non-load-bearing strength training with resistance bands placing less stress on joints/connective tissues while concurrently improving flexibility via extended range of motion.

I never said they were, I said I'd lay out a timeline and all of the injuries we've had. I would've thought people would conclude that's a given.

Gronk was, kinda. Blocking. Big passes down the seam and getting blasted.
