Lucien was drafted. He produced good numbers at a big school including a 1000 yard season. Harper had nowhere near the production.

Nowhere near the production? Harper had more production over three years without taking a redshirt season than Lucien did over four years with a redshirt. As for draft position, come on, you know that's a disingenuous point. The difference between a late 7th round pick and an UDFA is essentially nonexistent to begin with, and to whatever insignificant extent it does exist, it evaporates the moment the players step foot on an NFL field.

Their best respective seasons were 852 yards for Harper at age 20 vs. 1074 yards for Lucien at age 22. If you want to suggest that this is a major difference that accounts for Harper being younger and overall more productive, then again, I'm going to have to observe that that's just a disingenuous point. You're scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to portray them as being significantly different calibers of player. And again, this is all supposing that minor disparities in college stats matter at all in comparison to preseason performance when you're talking about end-of-the-roster players, which... they don't.

As far as college volume stats go, to the extent that they matter at all (little to none, when stacked up against NFL performance): Harper started for 3 years, beginning as a true freshman and ending as a junior. He had 2030 yards in those 3 years: he was a young and productive three-year starter. Lucien, OTOH, redshirted his freshman year, had three mostly unproductive years at UCLA, then transferred to Arizona State and had one productive season before entering the NFL at age 23.

I think DJ Foster makes the team.
I also think Bolden makes the team due to special teams.

I can't say I despise him. He gave it his all but he just didn't do anything well enough to justify keeping him on an NFL roster (the Jets' WR depth chart does not count as an NFL roster). I strongly suspect that the same is true for Lucien.

We should do Cyrus a favor and release him.
He's had a disasterous career thus far.
If I didn't know better I would say his jersey must be number 17.

I also think Bolden makes the team due to special teams.

That's certainly possible, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats go heavy on RB and light-ish on WR knowing that Foster, and Burkhead have a lot of experience in the slot. But if one makes it I'm confident it will be Carr. There's a reason why Lucien was the one playing deep in the fourth quarter.

It's all conjecture at this point since he won't have his MRI until tomorrow at the earliest, but it's almost guaranteed to be a torn ACL; drawer tests rarely give false positives.

Disagree on releasing him: I think he's played adequately the last couple weeks. Not great, definitely not what you'd hope for from a second round pick, but he could still have an NFL career, and he still gets paid if we IR him. Releasing him with an injury settlement wouldn't be any kind of favor, this isn't an IR-stashing if he has a torn ACL; it's a legitimate season-ending injury. Not like anyone else is going to sign and try to play him with a torn ACL, he's out of commission for a year no matter what

Feel bad for the kid.
He finally was getting confidence in his returns and now he needs to rehab and learn to cut and have confidence and fearlessness in that knee.
I don't think he ever becomes a complete player for us he doesn't put it all together here.
He seems like he is hexed here and my thought is the best thing for both parties is a clean break.
