Jarvis Landry??

So BB never keeps a rookie to develop?

There are ALWAYS players that aren't going to be contributor unless there is an injury. Carr is in that category for me.

In any event we will know within a week.

Who said that ?

I dont know how often to repeat it.. Carr is a PS candidate who needs at least another season of development. And given how he didnt have a single snap with Brady according to beat guys is pretty telling that the team sees it the same way.

I hadn't heard that JAX was shopping Hurns. Not sure why they would any more than the Fins would shop Landry (which they apparently aren't, after all).

Robinson is their obvious WR1, Marqise Lee has come on strong, and they're apparently very happy with their rookie, Dede Westbrook. Hurns is the odd man out and missed a lot of preseason recovering from an injury. I'm sure they'll keep him if they can't find any takers at price, but I've read they're looking for trade partners.

I expect amendola to do a good job but he's not edelman which means that Mitchell will really have to make big plays for us. I expect some teams to scheme against cooks. They will put the safety over the top. A year where I feel that gronk has to stay healthy the whole year and that's not a given.

I think he can put up good numbers with a good QB. Also it wouldn't surprise me if Coates was let go in Pittsburgh.

Agree I'd keep a eye on Coates we worked him out specifically

Which is why emphasizing Hogan in the preseason was so smart. If both of them are legitimate deep threats the opponents can't "just put a safety over the top" because they have to account for both and can't just play a safety in the middle of the field.

This is also the reason why I think we will keep Lewis because I can see McD using Gronk more as a decoy that sucks up coverage especially early in the season and rely to a big extent on our flexbacks.

Amendola will have a good year if he is not overused as well as Mitchell. But none of them will have any pressure to make "the big plays" because the unit is deep as a whole and the scheme is so flexible and diverse that everyone will benefit from each other in terms of coverage.

In the end the core reason why it would be prudent to get another WR is not (only) Edelman's injury but Mitchell's knee situation.

Still seems odd to me.

They have two good WRs and a promising rookie, and they're looking to unload a guy who gave them a 1000-yd, 10-TD season in 2015, and who was still their 3rd leading pass-catcher in 2016, despite playing injured.

Meanwhile, the Pats have 2 elite WRs and two good ones, and we're worried that we don't have enough.

And, it's not as if they desperately need to unload Hurns' $7M contract. The Jags have over $44M in cap space.

Agree about Gronk needing to stay healthy. I'm not sure how much more workload they're willing to put on Amendola, though.

Jaguars aren't in a win now mode. I think it would have to be the right deal. A 3rd rounder is probably worth more to them than Hurns right now, but they'll keep him if all they could get is a 6th.

I doubt very much someone would give them a 3rd rounder. He had a good 2015 but he had a down year last season. Very similar to Lafell.

If "putting a safety over the top" was enough to tame Cooks, he wouldn't have surpassed 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons. And if a team does figure out how to scheme away Cooks, so be it. They'll still have to contend with Hogan and a seemingly endless supply of guys who can catch out of the backfield.

Edelman's injury definitely hurts, but perspective must be maintained. The Patriots may no longer be virtually unstoppable, but they will still be a top 5 offense. Hell, I'd go as far as saying that they will be top 5 even if Gronk plays 6 or less games this year.

As a thought experiment, imagine that, instead of getting hurt, Julian had decided to surprisingly retire. In response, the team traded for Cooks and snagged a couple versatile RBs. If the events had occurred in that order, would anyone really be concerned about the offense right now? If NE could average more than 27 ppg for the past four years (including a dearth of weapons in '13, all the injuries in '15 and without Gronk last year) what reason should I believe they won't do it again this year?

Too bad Dwayne Allen has been awful as the TE2..really need him to turn it around otherwise he's gone when the season ends.

I am one that thinks this guy won't turn it around but we will see. Shaughnessy will pass him.

Can't get over how Big and Slow Allen looks he's like Scott Chandler pt.II. Edelman is known to make those Big Catches over the middle and take a pounding. We can't risk Gronk consistently in those situations coming back from back surgery he won't last the year. Gronk needs help in that area and I am not talking about only from our RB's. TE #2 needs to be factor both blocking and catching.

Right now one have to wonder will Dwayne Allen make it in the end. The Edelman Injury shake things up a bit. We might need pass catching ie...like O'Shaughnessy and Hollister. A blocking TE like Allen could be replaced by a O-Lineman.

Aaron Hernandez has just been so hard to replace, as a player he was special. I am all in favor of drafting a tight end high next year, maybe round 2..try to find another player with Hernandez type skill set. This offense runs so much more smoothly when the Te 2 is contributing with catches and yards after catch.

Chandler, wright, and now Allen...all of them are JAGS.

Due to the trade and his dead cap #, Allen is a lock. He caught as many balls as Gronk this preseason

Yet they somehow managed 4 AFCCG appearances and 2 SB titles without him.
