Belichick understood that the player (Kona Ealy) had issues with his performance and Carolina had depth at that position. Thus, it turned into a win for them because they essentially got to move up for free (knowing he had limited reps/??? on their team).
BB essentially got to kick the tires on a player who could play a role, provided he lived up to his ability and could take on the team dynamic. It's worked well sometimes and not on others. BB didn't have to wait for the Panthers to cut him and got prolonged exposure (not to mention exclusivity) to try to integrate/assess him with our system.
BB understands that not all draftees make it to a team and you're luck to get 50% to contribute. Thus he took 2 players for the price of 1 player and 10 positions in the draft. When it's 50/50 chance to make it, doubling your chances makes too much sense to give it a try.
Feels like you are arguing with me or are you just providing additional content/commentary?Players underperform for many different reasons.
Some are on them. We seem to forget that being a professional athlete is a lifestyle and these are largely people in their 20s. Many people in their 20s are out doing things that aren't good for them. We must assume that includes athletes.
No matter the line of work there are different people who have different levels of commitment to success.
These issues can sometimes be corrected by a change of scenery, leadership, management but many times not.
Ealy may have a level of commitment that can keep him in the league but isn't what the patriots want.
He could be a me guy and on many teams that is fine.

dictionary.com says:I don't get this topic, are you saying it wasn't a blunder?
It was a blunder....the wrong move.
Was it a disaster? Nope. Did it "cost" them that much? Nope. Was it low risk? Yes. Would they still do it over again if they could? Yes.
blunder
[bluhn-der]
noun
1.
a gross, stupid, or careless mistake.
Must every single minor slight against the Pats get its own thread?
Five time (and counting) champion PatriotsThe answer is yes, because deep down we're a neurotic bunch.
The truth is we should all just relax and enjoy the end of the ride, because all the people sniping at the Patriots are just fighting a futile rear-guard action against the verdict of history itself.
And history isn't written by the losers, it's written by the winners. In this case the five time, five time, five time, five time, FIVE TIME SUPER BOWL CHAMPION NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS.

This trade was really no different than trading down a few picks and adding a 6th round pick. So essentially he is saying moving down a few spots and adding a 6th round pick that gets cut before the season is a blunder
Major issue here. Posters like to misuse words that sound stronger than not good.dictionary.com says:
Doesn't rise to the level of blunder.
Does rise to the level of click bait.
Not just here. They should stop. You should say blunder when you mean blunder instead of not good, otherwise you look like a tool, especially when you put it in CAPITAL LETTERS.Major issue here. Posters like to misuse words that sound stronger than not good.
