Roster cutdowns - PATRIOTS

OTOH, at "traditional" DE, they have only Flowers and Wise, who they probably wouldn't want to expose to injury.

At LB, aside from HT, Harris and Van Noy, they have only Roberts (still with bruised ribs), McLellin (in witness protection, apparently), Freeny, Bates and Ellis.

It may be more just making sure they have a complete positional roster surrounding the guys who they still want to evaluate than it is about giving these new guys a tryout.
I think wise will play a handful of snaps this week
I think we will see him butler Grissom langi and the new guys handling the de reps.

Christian Kuntz - 2017 UDFA Duquesne - OLB/LS/ST:
6010/232 ... 4.18/40, 1.65/10yd ... 23 reps ... 32 vert/116 long ... 4.39 shuttle ... 6.81 3-cone

Nick Usher - 2017 UDFA Texas-El Paso - OLB/DE:
6032/235 ... 4.74/40, 1.64/10yd ... 19 reps ... 31 vert/118 long ... 4.57 shuttle ... 7.50 3-cone

Mikey Bart - 2017 UDFA North Carolina - DE:
6026/267 ... 4.84/40, 1.67/10yd ... 25 reps ... 29 vert/111 long ... 4.40 shuttle ... 7.13 3-cone

Also, any player who the Pats might want to bring back from IR must still be on the roster after cutdowns. So, there may be a couple of "head-scratcher" cuts over the weekend who will be restored to the 53 after those guys are moved to IR on Monday.

Unlikely given that neither Edelman or Rivers seem like return candidates and none of the players important enough to utilize that technique with will see the field this week.

IDK. I've been thinking that the Pats might do that with Garcia and/or McLellin. Unless they've been moved to WitSec already.

Bolden, Waddle and Freeny are all vested vets, IIRC, who could be cut for a day and brought back.

I pride myself on in-depth amateur scouting, and I actually don't have notes on any of these guys. Camp fodder at best.

Most probable however who had Malcom Butler on their watch list?
Show of hands

At least his first name is generally fine. I'm sure you remember this guy....

Nah, fair enough, but I had double-digits our draft picks/UDFAs predicted this year, so I feel pretty good about my ability to peg Patriots-type players.

These guys probably won't amount to anything. I'll gladly be wrong, though.

Brady gives it to Kuntz.

Kuntz was absolutely slammed there.

Thinks about giving it to Kuntz and then takes it to the endzone instead.

Oh lord, my life is complete.
