Hogan is not on the bubble and neither is Mitchell. Not even close.

I would say its highly unlikely that Hogan isn't on the roster. But given that he could very well end up the #4 receiver, on a team with 2 quality pass catching TEs and multiple pass catching RBs, it isn't totally inconceivable he gets cut/traded.

See for example both Meriweather and Sanders getting dumped in 2011.

Neither of those guys were nearly the player and contributor that Hogan was last year. Poor comparison. Meriwether was a meathead (although absolutely hilarious and entertaining on 98.5 during the season) and who the f### was Sanders?

Hogan is a deep threat...we have 2 now...Hogan and Cooks with Gronk and Allen under with Jules and Dola (looks like Dolas snaps will be limited this year based on camp)

Mitchell I see as not much of a deep guy..but sidelines middle field

Lot of respect towards Brady and Belichick in that thread as well.

Lot of goat mentions.

I don't understand why people feel the need to dump on Bills fans. As PM noted, most were very respectful of Tom and Bill. You had the typical "they must be cheating" morons, but they're no worse than anywhere else. Now, I join everyone in dumping on the team and the organization, but not the fans. I've spent some time in Buffalo and they're good people. It's not their fault they were dealt a bum hand.

James Sanders was a safety on the Pats from 2005-2010 and started 9 games for the Pats in 2010 and intercepted Manning to seal the win in that year.

No matter what you think of Meriweather its hard to claim that there were 3 safeties better than him on the roster in 2011. I mean really if you had said he was on the roster bubble at the start of camp in 2011 everyone would have laughed at you.

Had to laugh at one of the Buffalo fans opining that Hogan is on the bubble here, and then another chiming in that the only reason he won't be cut is because of a minimal salary cap savings.

Then I had to do a face palm, when someone here agrees that he could be cut?

Considering the importance of the WR and QB being on the same page in this offense, why would you want to get rid of a guy who 'gets it' and is productive?

Why dump a guy who had 17 receptions for 332 yards and 2 TD in the playoffs?

Was the 3rd&10 reception from inside the Pats own 10 yard line on the final drive in regulation in the SB just .... meh, no big deal? If so, I guess the reception in OT that put the ball in FG range was a nothing play too.

How would a Bills fan know what's going on with our roster? I can't even name more than three or four of their players max. LOL
When a hammer hits a nail repeatedly over the head, the nail gets to know everything about said hammer. Brand, weight, handle material, claw shape.. Everything. The nail becomes obsessed.

All you need to know is Brady is 25-3 against the Bills and needs one more to tie Favre for most wins by a QB against one team.. 2 more and the Bills officially become his little bytches..

The bubble that post and poster referred to is regarding the 3/4 receiver role, as opposed to being a starter, not the bubble regarding the roster.

In Brandon Meriwether's entire career he never had a season remotely close to being as successful as Hogan's was this year.

Well, that's an interesting use of the term. I'm as old as dirt, and "on the bubble", at least to me, has always meant iffy to make the team.

He played 97 of 99 snaps in the SB.
Edelman played 90.
Sounds like a guy in the bubble doesn't it?

He also played 67 of 74 in the afccg.

Do you or do you not understand why that means that Hogan is potentially expendable if we have problems at other positions that we need to fix?

I don't want him traded either. But it's a simple fact. you trade from abundance to cover your wants and needs. We have an abundance at WR, someone gets crowded out, we have this shiny new WR who plays Hogan's exact role, you can't rule out a trade here.

The fact of the matter is if you need to make a trade, it's not going to be your worst wideout that goes. It's gonna be someone that the opposing team values which is probabl also someone you value. Hogan and Mitchell are the two most likely to be desired by another franchise because they are good performers under reasonable contracts. It is nowhere near absurd to think that a franchise might deal from surplus to meet other needs if other needs develop and are severe enough.

There isn't a surplus. There is a complete unit.
Plus the argument was he was on the bubble to get cut not that he is so valuable he is great trade bait if necessary.

For all the Bills' fans (and anyone else for that matter) attributing the Patriots' success to "cheating", read Reiss today.

How Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason's visit to Pats camp changed his view

I have seen Geno Auriemma's teams go through practice in person and let me tell you first hand...it's DIFFERENT. The attention to detail. The speed at which they practice. The pace. The expectations. The teaching. It's on a completely other level from everyone else. It's not surprising that he's won as much as he has.

Same thing with Belichick. Every time another coach goes to observe them, he comes away amazed and impressed with everything. Belichick is on another level entirely and that's the biggest reason they win. Of course you need to hate good players but other organizations have good players too.

Terrific column by Reiss today.
