(N/S) Brandin Cooks and Patriots mini-camp - New Orleans Saints - Saints Report - Message Boards

"I've been living here in New England for the past year and because my wife's a patriots cheerleader, I've had the horrid misfortune of being dragged to Patriots mini-camp...fully clad in saints gear might I add
hihi.gif
so I thought I'd do some scouting.

They seem to be using him in the slot more often than not along with edleman. That's gonna be a tough matchup. It's been at least a 95% completion rate on there own defense in practice.

Cooks and Brady haven't really formed good chemistry on those deep balls just yet but MAN Cooks is fast! I don't think Brady is declining but he's having the same problem Drew had under/over throwing.

Having said that, doesn't look like their defense has gelled yet and they look totally beatable. Looks like they've been playing alot of zone coverage to mask it. Malcom Butler definitively stands head and shoulders above the rest of their secondary, though.

Bellicheck smiles alot. Weird.

Of course this was just mini-camp and I fully expect them to be better during the season. If I'm forced to continue to go, I'll try to keep updating."

Interesting his comments on brady cooks deep ball not connecting, and the defense looking lost. All reports from mini camp I have read have been the opposite. Can anyone who attended mini camp confirm this?

It takes time to form the deep ball. The defense not gelling yet is nothing to be worried about either. It's June. This was the top ranked defense in the league in 2016. Short of an injury bug, they'll be fine.

Interesting that Butler is "head and shoulders" above the other secondary guys, especially with all the buzz Gilmore got. I suppose the buzz was all about his athleticism (how many damn times are we going to see "smooth" and his name in the same sentence?), not his play.

It's fuxkin not even July. Please let's not start this.

This might be the most talented team in Pats history. Bill will work it out.

LOL Fuxkin Saints and their fans get too much respect around here. Fuxkin team has been a mess for a long time.

When he said they are playing zone to mask it IN MINI CAMP, I lost interest in his opinion.

No, let's make every thread like the game day thread. It's just the way life is going to be from now on. Check out what I just tweeted on MyPlace.

"The defense blows rancid JETE chunks. Belichick signs David Harris in response."

It's all true. SAD!

I can't believe the defense doesn't look good when there's virtually no contact, no tackling, and a fake pass rush. Well, there you have it. The Saints will beat the Patriots this year.

So the stuff I read about Gilmore Jonathan Jones and David Jones looking impressive I guess it was all a lie.

On a side note anyone know how my old binkie Darryl Roberts is looking with the Jets?

Not gelling? Is that PatriotsPimp 13053 moving on from wanting to see Bennett gel to to wanting to see the defense gelling? :D

I think that could be better suited to our offense, but he'll most certainly be getting some deep shots, too, even if it's a couple a game. That said, many have mistaken Edelman for a natural slot receiver plenty of times, when he lines up outside a lot, too, so this may have been this guy's opinion with Cooks.

Of course, this was in mini camp, so it's quite possible he may have just been starting out there, or they may have been working on specific assignments.

You gotta love someone saying the defense is not gelling based on "no contact", "not even shells" practices. Same reason it's pointless to speculate too much on RBs this time of the year because it's essentially a throwing camp.
