BOSTON CELTICS vs. Washington Wizards (Eastern semi-finals)

Would you rather watch the Wizards celebrate on garden floor, or watch LeBron James celebrate a sweep on Garden floor? One of those two things are happening...Unfortunately

I'd take the latter.
Watching that primadona John Wall celebrate will make me very upset.

OK, jackass. Let's start and finish here: Red Auerbach wanted nothing to do with Rick Pitino. In fact, Red was ousted from his president's position in favor of Little Ricky. So, if you didn't know that, your opinion on any of this doesn't count. See 'ya...
Yea what Rick wanted was to make 110% certain any/all hoops decisions and not just drafting and signing players were his. In the Celts org back then, that final say was the President title and Red was still the guy. It worked when Dave Gavitt was here as Dave and Red were philosophically aligned, had a mutual respect for each other and worked well together. You are right though, Red thought bringing in Rick was a bad idea. He thought he was a slime. He was right.

While it was Pitino who insisted on having absolute power, Thanksdad Gaston was the one who shanked Red as he had a problem with Red. See Red would treat him like he was still the owners son. It was almost like how Tuna treated Jonathan when he was here. Red was a great man but he didn't have a lot of patience for the silver-spooned Gaston.

Stripping Red of club President was a way for Gaston to put the old man in his place.

How do you think the Heat will do in their series? Oh, ****, that's right...
Nah we sucked. I'll freely admit that. We need to give Whiteside some help. But if they make moves in FA, they'll have a solid bench and the PG position is settled as well. That said, as long as LeBron is still at the top of his game, nobody is wrestling the East away from whatever team he plays for. Especially with Irving on the same squad. It's nothing personal against the Celts (I'm actually rooting for them), it's just a statement on how dominant his teams have been in this conference. I expect Boston to maybe win one game in that series. Then I expect the Cavs to get beaten 4-2 by Golden S(howers)tate.

Pitino was a disaster for the C's in every respect. But to be fair, Gavitt and Red totally mismanaged the team and were riding the coattails of Red's last move (the drafting of Reggie Lewis in 1987) that was better than merely OK (e.g. drafting Brian Shaw and Dee Brown, bringing in Dino Radja and Kevin Gamble) or professional malpractice (drafting Michael Smith and Acie Earl, keeping Robert Parish on the roster until his late 70s, etc). And when Lewis tragically passed away, the cupboard was pretty much bare. By the time Red was officially marginalized, he was spending as much time on racquetball as he was on influencing the C's inane personnel decisions.

ThanksDad really belongs on the list of worst owners in Boston history. He tried to bury M.L., too.

Red was not Pete Carroll. His relationship with Silas was openly antagonistic, but I don't know if that contributed to letting him go. I think you had to view him a bit like Don Rickles, laugh at yourself and look for what's underneath.

ThanksDad chose to take it all personally. Not the first person to do so.

Trading Danny was all Jan Volk.

If it is Cleveland/GS as I'm sure it'll be, I'll be rooting for Cleveland. It's a statement about how much I've come to dislike GS.

Except there is no shame in losing to the Cavaliers ... by anyone in the east.
for the record I cannot stand LeBron and love watching him lose - but his talent is undeniable.

im a lebron fan, but i have no reason to hate on GS

i prefer titles to be shared around, so if finals are GS CLE, ill take GS...over all w/ the teams left alive order is:
BOS
GS
CLE
SA
WAS

Yep. They ran the team as if the Big 3 were still in their late 20s and the NBA was still in the 80s. Drafting was terrible. Horrible athleticism. We all saw it vs DET, NY and even CLE and CHI. The game had passed Red and Gavitt by.

In hindsight they should have blown them up after the 1992 season once Larry retired.

Dorking around with Shaw was so stupid. He goes to Italy when he should have been learning from DJ.

Losing Reggie while tragic and awful, accelerated the much-needed rebuilding process.

Putting aside everything else GS deserves to lose because of Durant. Because of his singular ***** move of going to them he single handily turned the Western Conference from competitive to an inevitability. If he stayed on the Thunder the conference could have easily been won by either the Thunder, Spurs or Warriors with a healthy Rockets or Clippers having an outside chance. But by going to the Warriors he killed the Thunder and made the Warriors virtually unassailable over everyone else. He basically ruined the league.

F.uck him. If he had ANY competitive spirit he would have either stayed on the Thunder or went to a team like the Celtics.

Once he did that I was glad he chose not to come to Boston.

Going to GS was such a ****y move for Durant. If he left a losing team, I'd understand. But, he left a rival he figured he would have trouble beating so he wussed out.

That and I don't think he wanted to be in the same conference as LeBron.

I remember in 1991 contract extension conversations between the Knicks and Patrick Ewing were going badly and in a soundbite on ESPN Ewing was asked if he would consider playing with Jordan in Chicago or Larry in BOS. Ewing said, "Hell no. I wanna beat those guys.".

That attitude might have cost Patrick a ring but gotta admire him for that.

All in all Durant played well today. I think the Spurs win if Leonard hadn't gone down with the ankle again.

I forgot about the Durant move

Yea ok I'll reverse my order to
BOS
CLE/SA
GS
WAS
