You've got four listed as locks that I wouldn't put in that category (I just did offense, so there may be more on defense)

Develin
Andrews
Fleming
Garcia

but everyone's idea of "lock" may vary a bit.

Yes, indeed. Just because 100% of those drafted in 3rd have made the 53 doesn't mean Garcia will make the team. ALMOST EVERY PLAYER is upgradable and therefore NOT a lock. However, we use the "term" lock for players extremely unlikely to be cut. ANDREWS does indeed fit into this category. Personally, I would love Andrews to be our backup center.

I also find it very unlikely that Develin and Fleming will be cut. Could the two rookie OT's look so great that Fleming could be cut. I suppose so, but even then I would expect Fleming to be our #3 TE.

Karras would, theoretically, be a more versatile choice, right?
If Karras were even close to Andrews as a center that would true.

One thing BB doesn't do in these UDFA selections is REACH. With almost everyone of those we've signed so far, they seem to be more like steals than reaches.
????

Probably 2 out of 20 will make the 53 (if that). Any UDFA who make the 53 is a steal, by definition.

These UDFAs feel better than last year and that was an excellent class.

I had draftable grades on quite a few of these players. Remember I mentioned in my mock a few days ago that I believed strongly in the depth of this class, and I expected around 20 UDFA? I'm just gratified to know that the Patriots saw it in a similar fashion. Pretty neat to have the privilege of watching so many of the guys that we've talked about come into camp and compete. Great draft season, and you've been a huge part of the process (even if you were a Johnny-come-lately, haha).

Ahhh Leshun Daniels I remember him! He had some damn good games for them back in 15 when they went to the Rose Bowl.

Beware of the infamous highlight reel. As I recall, Lawrence Maroney had a spectacular one as well.

Now I didn't say we need to build a space in the Hall at Patriot Place for his bust. I just have a weird feeling that this guy could be someone to watch this summer. Lightning quick feet in the frame of a tank. Pretty cool to me.

This team currently has seemingly about 457 TEs not named Fleming on the roster. That tells me that Fleming is not going to be TE3.

As for Garcia, I know the history of this team's picks in the top 4 rounds, with regards to making the team year one. As I noted earlier, I just used a percentage cutoff, and I felt Garcia didn't quite reach the threshhold. With BB's history of the surprise cut/trade, I tried to take such a seeming randomness into account.

There once was a tight end called kittle
Who we loved more than a little
But we signed LeShun
To help with the run
And now we're feeling a little less brittle

If you'd left “feeling“ out of the last verse
it would be perfect

If Karras were even close to Andrews as a center that would true.

His closeness to Andrews as a center isn't relevant to my question, as long as he's deemed good enough to be a backup at more positions, and is deemed good enough to be a backup at center.
