Round of applause to the mod/member who changed the thread title. Haven't laughed that hard in weeks. Bravo.

Read my sentence again. It makes perfect sense. Patriots shopping Butler around wouldn't impede on Butler's free agent value at all. To play in the NFL in 2017, Butler has 2 choices, either sign the tender with the Pats or sign a contract with another team. The fact that his rights are property of the Pats or any other team doesn't change any of that, nor the value of either deals.

With 'solid' logic like yours, can I ask you a question ? Are you Butler's agent by some chance ? That would explain a lot...
He has a 3rd option. Getting traded for less than the tender compensation.

If the patriots were allowed to ship him it would impede his free agency because since they cannot he brings them the deal he negotiates, not the one the patriots do.
You aren't free if the team can shop you.

I was sick once or twice, thereby not going to my usual game spot at a friends. For the life of me, I cannot see how someone can enjoy the game while reading and posting in that sewer.

Greetings my fellow posters:

I have failed you all recently. First by posting Rapsheet's fake news that sides were close to finalizing a deal; I created an underground fighting pit on this forum. I then followed it up with more fake news that Revis is looking more likely that he is heading to New England.

The only solution was to create the Pats Fans UFC Event. Here we all have a front row seat of non-stop entertainment until Butler's status is resolved. Pass the popcorn.

That is meaningless.

According to what has been said in the last few weeks by multiple people (e.g. Lombardi or Curran) the Patriots can't tender a player if they want to trade him anyway. Supposedly this has to be done in good-faith assuming the team intends to have the player around in the upcoming season. Emphasizing a few times that they hope to have him back is exactly what they needed to do to avoid a potential issue with the NFLPA in the unlikely case there is a grievance. Cover all bases.

I never thought a thread would make me miss the days of NEM threads

And THAT is seriously saying something. There should be an archive somewhere of those threads. Something for future generations of PatsFans to read and understand what the past was like.

You'll scare the children.

I've been on this site for 10 years. For you other old timers, what is the worst thread you can remember (other than this one)?

2008: The official Trade Brady thread.

The premise really speaks for itself. We hit a point in the 2008 season where, a few months after Brady set the TD record, so many posters wanted to trade him and roll with Matt ****ing Cassel that Ian had to start a master thread to contain the discussion. This place could exist for another 30 years and we'll never have another discussion approaching that kind of stupidity.

I agree that that thread was dumber than all these JAG Uber Alles threads.
And I liked Matty C.
