Butler & Saints working towards finalizing a deal (Thread now UFC Pats Fans Event)

I do not believe that is correct. The league can investigate and punish the patriots for a violation.
That's possible I guess. I can only go by past situations (like the Giants/Steeler game). IIRC the Pats had been in conflict with the league for a while before spygate, but nothing happened UNTIL the Jets actually filed a complaint.

I could be wrong, but I see this as being a classic "much ado about nothing" scenario, UNLESS one of the 3 parties involved file a complaint against someone.

And that's why all official comments on the matter are going to be "we aren't discussing any trades for so-and-so."

But it is foolhardy to think Butler's name never came up in an unofficial capacity between Payton and Belichick.

I'm sure if they have it would be easy enough to keep him incognito during the discussions.

BB: "Hey Sean, I heard you're looking to hire a butler to keep your backyard clean"

SP: "Yeah I am Bill but I usually like to interview those guys 32 and or 46 times. "

BB: "How about just 11 interviews and keep Big Brother happy?"

SP: "Nah, although I might get rid of one of my Cooks because he's been serving up some **** lately"

Easy Peasy.

It's funny you say that because others have said there's no way Belichick is giving up a 1st rounder for another player, so it has to be a de facto Butler-for-Cooks trade.

I have no opinion on the matter but I am honestly wondering: Has he ever done that before? I mean traded his 1st round draft pick for an active player on another team. Yes, he has certainly traded a first rounder for other picks (either moving up or down).

Pats tendered Butler on March 7th

Cooks for Butler report came on March 9th 10AM

League year (FA and trading) opened March 9th 4PM

0.0% chance Belichick was talking about trading a player that as far as he was concerned had been an unsigned RFA for 2 days.

As for him giving up a 1st for Cooks. Go read up on Belichick talking about Cooks. Then you'll see why he gave up a 1st for at least 2 years of Cooks.

@QuantumMechanic

Keep disagreeing with my posts all you want. Still won't change that the reality of the situation is a lot closer to what I'm saying than this notion that Belichick, who the league would love to suspend and Payton, a guy the league already suspended for a 1 year, are in collusion on something that is direct violation of Section 8 of the CBA.

After this trade goes down, the "letter of the law" table pounders will insist the Cooks to NE & Butler to NO transactions were simply unrelated coincidences.

No its foolhardy to think belichick would subject himself to a year suspension over this and hope no one finds out.

Don't worry -- I will! BTW, could you remind us all how you ended up being more connected to what's going on than every single one of the sportswriters who have discussed the situation? Even Florio, who you love to point at on this, said in one of the very articles you keep quoting that some illegal "winking and nodding" will need to take place to finalize things before Butler signs his tender and is traded, assuming a trade happens.

So I'll take that as a no, you can't think of any examples of Belichick traded a 1st rounder for an active player.

Clearly Brissett and Hightower want him gone. Butler is a cancer, did his cancerous impact stop the team from 3 peating? We don't know and we shouldn't have to wonder. Supa cereal.

It means the deal with NO is done and that he saw BB and SP having secret illegal conversations on a 7 ringed boat while sipping on orange juice.

Seriously though I think "nothing changed but the change" means He's still the same guy but now has more money (change= Money or at least it did about 20 years ago)

So, basically, a similar conversation that one normally has with their weed dealer.

No wait!! It means he is staying in NE for more money.
That would be the ideal scenario, in my opinion. That kind of news would be the cherry on top of a great period of free agency.

It's a typo. It should say "Nothing changed but the chain". He bought a new chain. A pretty sweet one I might add too.

Wearing Black and Gold....while on a plane........hmmmmmmmm?
No hints there :)
