Attn: @Pats Fanatic, this is the part that calls it into question (from the post I was responding to):

You know what else calls it into question, him going to the Pats after 1 year of Butler being the #1 CB and demanding $9.5m per year, which the Pats counter was $7m. Guy wanted Pats to forego 2 years of low cost to give him a bump and he wouldn't come off the $9.5m. Then he starts making noise when the Pats signed Gilmore.

Honestly at this point I don't think it's a question. Butler's agent wants his payday, he's been waiting 3 years for it.

He could have had a very nice one but it seems that he wanted more and didn't take into consideration the realities of the CBA (4 years until UFA) for a player like Butler which you mentioned. I posted in another thread a reality of Wall Street, " Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered"....
Butler is his learning curve compared to an agent with more experience dealing with teams. Look at guy like Drew Rosenhaus. Many teams hate dealing with him but the Pats haven't had an issues because they are both experienced and professional in their dealings and they "know the score" and come to the table prepared and reasonable...and realistic in their expectations and demands.

Tired of him shutting down elite receivers? Geez....third world problems here.

What elite receivers outside Antonio Brown would that be? On his own without safety help that is..

I agree and I think this is where Curran, Howe & co. come from when they talk not particularly favorable of Butler's manager.

The mistake happened last offseason where they were close to the goal line of an extension but then couldn't get it done. I think the manager might have thought that with all that contracts of other DBs ending he might have some leverage over the Pats in negotiations but then BB simply acquired Gilmore when Butler wasn't getting done before FA.

In any case overall Butler will lose a couple of millions over his career because he didnt sign the extension last year. He could have had an additional run at proper FA after that 3-4 year contract expired.

Can we please stop using guesses about what a player asked for and/or the team offered or were willing to pay and act like they are fact?

Lol the phrase is first world problems. Kind of changes the meaning 180 degrees when you say it that way.

We know nothing. Lombardi?

If WE have to decide then yeah we'll take the 11th pick. If reality decides then no, we ain't getting that pick.

With all of the Jimmy G and Butler threads let's merge them all into one Browns thread. Jimmy G and Malcolm for #1, #12, and #33.

Discuss.

Sounds like BB really doesn't want to trade MB.

Well, I hope he doesn't want to trade him. However, I would also hope that, given all the cap space we have, BB would be ready to pay him one year early. Of course, he shouldn't go above what he feels the player is worth and Butler also has to understand that the first year of the contract won't give him much more than 3,9M. That's why it is a complicated case. Butler's camp seems to be overestimating their leverage.

If Howe is right, all that talk over here & media about BB/Payton negotiating way down the slotted value of RFA tender to "do a favor" looks wrong. That was never BB's style.

Check this out :

What a snarky little *****. We all know he has limited FA right, dumbass, but the RESTRICTED piece makes all the difference. What a little prick talking down to us like that.
