I think I'm done here, thanks. Think what you want to think. Clearly there's nothing to be done about it.

Have a great night, XLIX!
As predicted, you're slithering off because you know none of your absurd scenarios are going to come to pass.

Eh, no surprise.

Just no point in arguing it further. You want to call that "slithering off"? Whatever.

Let me just ask one question, XLIX....

What do you think I've been trying to say this whole time? What's been my point?

Tough to say because your reasoning is all over the place. On the one hand you discuss the wisdom of accepting 4/$28 instead of waiting for free agency by saying "in a sport as violent as this, all it takes is one bad hit and you're done." But then - in the very next post, no less - you assume he will cash in for 4 years, $68 million in 2020 once the 4 year deal is over.

You also twist the hypotheticals in a painful way to support your narrative. For example, you say signing the 4 year deal only pushes UFA back 1 year. But that assumes they franchise him under "Scenario A" but do not franchise him under "Scenario B" which is logically inconsistent (not to mention they may quite likely have much bigger fish to fry with the franchise tag in 2018). I could just as easily claim the signing the 4/$28 pushes UFA back 3 years because they won't franchise him in 2018 but likely will do so in 2020.

You clearly got upset at my use of the term "screwing him" and, despite the fact that I said I won't engage in semantic debates, for some reason you kept harping on and on about my use of that word.

As before I am not going to debate the semantics of "screwing" someone, so suffice to say I think offering 4/$28 to a top-10 CB who has performed in the biggest of games at the highest of levels and is 1 year away from RFA is a horrible offer. I don't blame him (or his agent) for rejecting it and seeing how things play out. Tough to argue that was the wrong decision.

I don't know how I'm supposed to engage in meaningful conversation with someone who twists things the way you do.

1. My logic isn't at all inconsistent or "all over the place." It's been the exact same all the way through.

2. You complain that I'm talking about semantics of "screwing" Butler over, but then you double down by talking about me expecting him to bend over and accept "pennies on the dollar", which is just another way of saying they're screwing him.

3. You have claimed in past posts that I'm saying that Butler "should" have taken the offer, which, of course, I've never once said.

4. You've argued that I am claiming that these fanciful scenarios are going to happen, when I've not actually claimed that at all. For all I know, Butler may get a huge offer from the Saints and the Pats work out a deal and he ends up with a monstrous contract right now. I've never claimed clairvoyance. I've just pointed out that Butler took a gamble by turning down 4/28 a year ago. Maybe he wins the bet. We don't know yet.

5. You miss the entire point of what I'm saying, which is, simply: that a 4/28 offer for a guy who has only been in the league for 2 years, and for whom the Pats could have under their control for *3* more years if they chose, is not REMOTELY "screwing" him. Not even close. THAT has been my only point in all this.

How in the world am I supposed to engage in meaningful conversation with someone who gets this much wrong about the discussion we've been having? THIS is why I want to stop talking. I can't keep wasting my time like this.

Oh I also forgot... you said "good night" and that you would stop responding to me oh... was it 3 or 4 posts ago?

Settle Down

So you twist the conversation numerous ways and I try to graciously bow out and you criticize me for "slithering away". So I try one last time to re-engage and then you criticize me for going back on my word to bow out.

You're one of THOSE kind of internet posters, eh?

You may have the last word, XLIX. I mean it this time, whether or not you then call me a "coward" or some other insult. The floor is yours.

Just promise you'll be here when all those scenarios you concocted get blown out of the water.

But those mean Patriots were totally screwing Butler with that 4/28 offer after just his second year, only one of which was as a starter.

Jerks.
Ah yes, the guy who promises he is going away (and even gave the whole "you can have the last word" routine) but doesn't have the fortitude to keep his own promise.

"You may have the last word, XLIX. I mean it this time" - Ivanvamp

So you pull the old "I'll respond to person A's post but this message is clearly directed towards person B."

Lol!! I see you're one of THOSE internet posters, eh?

I said I didn't want to talk to you anymore. I didn't say I wasn't interested in talking about this topic. I'm happy to talk to to normal, sane people who don't twist my words and make stuff up.

Right. So you pulled the old "I'll respond to one poster but write a message which is clearly directed at someone else" maneuver.

You're one of THOSE internet types.
