Comparison of the athletic measurables of the current ends:

Kony Ealy 6-4.0 273, 4.70 40, 6.8 3-cone
Trey Flowers 6-2.1 266, 4.85 40, 7.3 3-cone
Rob Ninkovich 6-3.1 255, 4.80 40, 7.0 3-cone

Ealy is bigger, faster, quicker.

I am more convince after this move that jimmy G ain't getting traded for draft picks.

Yeah, I read a news report yesterday that Soccer is getting more popular in rural America, so I'm pretty convinced the price of broccoli is going up in Taiwan.

Those things have as much relevance to each other as what you're saying.

Please explain why you think an 8 spot draft swap and acquiring a defensive end leads to you settling on JG not being moved.

I want to hear how your though process evolves.

A good troll will at least stay on the subject. This clown is so all over the place he dosent even remember what the thread topic was about.

Wait so we don't have a 2nd rounder now? Damn I was looking forward to screaming at the tv once the pats make that Who the F is that pick ala tavon Wilson/Jordan Richards

Sarcasm aside, great trade and fills a huge need opposite flowers

Ealy will be better than sheard. Sheard was a healthy scratch last year for poor Peformance. Ealy can rush the passer, and has a very high motor. Our scheme will bring out his best.

He will be an upgrade over either Sheard or Long. One of which was our #2 DE last year. We are already better in the top 2 DE spots this year than last year.

They still need another body or 2. I am very confident they plan to draft at least 1 DE but I see another DE vet coming here as likely.

I would have felt better if it wasn't for a second rounder. To be honest i feel like he's worth a fourth rounder. He hasn't been the
player that came out of college. He had a big game in the superbowl and that's about
it.
So the fact that it was the equivalent of a fifth rounder ought to make you ecstatic.

I guess that means no jared odrick?

Not necessarily - - they still need to replace Long (or maybe this guy is to replace Sheard, or.....)

All I know is if this guy is good at wiping out the edge, do we call that part of the field for RB's "Kony Island"?

Odrick and Ealy replacing Sheard and Long seems mind-blowingly good for the Patriots.

Not to be down on Sheard and Long - - loved 'em both - but this seems to be a nice upgrade.

Pinch me.....ive been lurking thru all this frenzy and reading all you guys insightful posts and breaking news but I just cant help myself on this one.

Let me get this straight we drop a small aount of draft slots into the beginning/mid part of the 3rd round from the 64th overall and get Kony FREAKIN!! Ealy in the process.

BB I love you.....you just tickled my inner football geek pink, lol

Now PLEASE resign HT, say no to trading Butler and if it must be then Cooks will be dynamic in this offense.....

I'm excited to see the additions coming to LB, D-Line and CB(Ryan's replacement)...and yes we do need to bring in some dynamic young wideouts either thru trade, FA or the Draft and apparently BB feels this way with the stories breaking left and right (Cooks, Hunter and Hopkins maybe in play again).

Im sooo pumped about this Defense right now

Well he has not shown much unfortunately.

BB did say he was "very instinctive" as a pass rusher and had high hopes for him.
I liked him coming out of OU.

We got an effective situational pass rusher for nothing. He'll thrive in a 50% snaps role.

God damn. If they resign Hightower and find a way to keep Butler, this may be the finest defense Belichick has fielded since the '03 unit.

Great trade especially for that minor price and at that salary.

We addressed an area of need and got a good player without giving up a lot...great move!!!!
