Butler case

I feel sorry for Butler. He worked his butt off and proved he is a #1 corner.
Yet, this seems like a slight (signing Gilmore for that much $$).

Butler deserves what Gilmore got... IMO

Why do you care what he earns or who our #1 CB is as long as we keep piling up those Lombardi trophies? This team will continue to contend for a SB

It's easier if you just think of these guys as wh0res who get paid to help us reach climax, then are let go for comparable replacements. Try not to get too attached, kid.

Lets not believe what the crappy insiders say. They know nothing and our team doesn't say much.

Am I able to request certain "acts?" If so, I'm all for it.

Seeing Malcolm's agent is saying the NEP haven't spoken about $ to him in a year they aren't saying much to him either.

So will butler drag this through the mud? Sign the tender. He will get paid eventually.

If there's one thing that's a guaranteed, gold solid lock, it's this: when Malcolm's gone, we'll read a lot on here, and elsewhere, that he was overrated, greedy and largely sucked. Book it.

In the last week I've seen posts about Bennett's blabber mouth and that JG is twice the QB Brady was in his third year.

I'm sure there will be plenty of MB stuff.

I haven't thought through all the angles but I'm not sure why he wouldn't sign the tender.

I'm assuming he's getting traded and he knows the Pats won't pay him.

Sign it. Gets teams to officially show interest and collect his cash.

Still haven't heard much on logan ryan. Anyway he comes back on a cheap deal if Butler leaves. Is it possible?

You're right, Tony, and it also falls under the same umbrella of idiocy. Sometimes, the stuff that's posted here can be brilliant, incitefull and really thought-provoking. And then, it can be such utter rubbish.

Then he should sign the tender, play for the 4 million and hit unrestricted FA next year. Like Gilmore did.

Is it rethorical?

I am just saying. Some people here where throwing crazy numbers in terms of money here. I think he will get less then 10 million dollars. Alot of corners out there.

What do you think of brandon flowers?

Is Gilmore a more physical corner who can matchup against big outside receivers? Or does he play a similar style as Butler? Would it make sense to carry two high priced corners, or is this just throwing away money? It concerns me that the locker room has seen a lot of players get traded or not re-signed, and then they give a crazy money deal like this to someone else.

Still trying to digest this signing. It is so unlike what the Patriots usually do, throwing enormous money, a lot of it guaranteed, for a player is among the best free agents at the position but not a top CB compared to the rest of the league. Unless of course they think Gilmore hasn't been utilized correctly and could be an all-pro player in their system.

I feel like he's gone. Ryan is a good cb, but he had a weird good year. He was benched a bit, then played great, but with Rowe getting better, his value has lessened

He has alot of talent. He can play man coverage. I find it hard to believe we brung him here to play alot of zone.

He played very well but wasn't he the one that gave up that big play to julio jones ij the 4th quarter when the falcons where pushed back and had to punt.

Butler will eventually get paid. If he is with Pats this year he gets 3.9 mill as he is a RFA. He will not make a penny more. He will make big bucks next year as UFA, either with Pats or somebody else. If he gets traded to Saints, they will likely give him a new contract just so he wont leave after one year.
As for homers on this thread who are thrashing Butler's agent (there are 4 such posts already), he has already clarified that there has been no contractual contact with Pats since last year. Are you going to believe him or Lombardi who is a braggart and a journalist? And for those who think Butler should dump his agent just because he has never negotiated a NFL contract, think loyalty towards a guy who worked hard to get MB a tryout anywhere.
So will butler drag this through the mud?
Butler is dragging this thru the mud? I have noticed only the Patriots and Saints PR machines spewing out information through their anonymous mouth pieces.

That catch was ridiculous. I like Ryan and he's a solid #2 who is physical, good technique and has a good jump on the ball, but he is not quick and a bit rigid. I would like to have him back, but someone will pay him.
