I want Dola back but I doubt he's giving 4 MIL back.

He is giving back more than that. He will play for the 1.5-1.75 he played for the last 2 years. Why would he expect a raise?

I'm not sure if the middle ground can be reached. I really think he wants to stay so I think there's still a chance. But how much is BB gonna pay for the 4th or 5th receiver? And how much is DA gonna give up compared to both what he is due and what he might get elsewhere if cut?

What is due is irrelevant. He knows he cannot get that. Basically that has already been torn up and he is negotiating as a FA who won't have many options out there. Again.

Hopefully the middle ground can be reached because as you say he is so clutch and as good a back up for our system as we could expect to have.

Pats are looking to replace Bennett and have a true back up option for Gronk. It could be a TE or big WR. TE seems unlikely in this market so he is looking for a bigger WR.

It's weird that Edelman is in his 30s. Like when did this happen lol? It is sad to think that he might be replaced in a few years. But when you think about, he does seem to take a pounding more than anyone else on the team including Gronk. And it took Edelman at least 3 years to become the player he is now so if you want a smooth transition a new guy would need to be targeted very soon to give him a chance to develop behind the scenes and avoid a 2013 situation where everyone was too green.

Our 3 top WR's are 30, 28 and 23. They did very, very well last year.

Belichick always looks for WR additions upgrades.

This year, we need a 4th WR, likely to be Amendola or another veteran (could be Floyd). We also are always adding youngsters. After all Edelman just passed 30.

There is nothing unusual about the patriots looking for a WR. HOWEVER, I don't see them paying huge money for a 4th WR, when they have 3 solid WR's.

And yes, Belichick likes to have 7 or so potential roster players at WR in camp.

There is a big difference between "could have him" and "Actually have him"

Just because they could have him, doesnt mean bill wont explore other better options. he had almost half a season to see floyd in person in practices, and games. Who knows if he'll even get an offer from the patriots for next year or beyond.

Alot of available money out there just to name one reason. Look I'm not saying he is definitely gone or even likely gone. All I really said was that we have one open spot and until the renegotiating is done there is a possibility if another one. I don't want him gone or expect he's gone so not sure why the back and forth.

Floyd getting suspended may be a plus since he wouldn't count against the roster while suspended. That would give us a free roster spot and there could be an injury to another player in the meantime before he comes off suspension.
