2017 Draft Prospect Thread

I understand there is a lot of group-think within the draft community, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are parroting each other.

In the end, there are only so many breakdowns of a player you can make. At some point, it's all going to sound familiar. And many will see things differently, much like we do on here.

As for talent over scheme, isn't it both? The pats have specific player skillsets that they look for, and also have to fit a specific scheme. You are always going to have to expound on a players college tape to see if he will fit, but scheme matters a great deal. Going fully on talent will land you a player who may not be able to do what you need him to do.

If a player is that talented he's going to do w/e you need him to do.

As far as the Patriots are concerned our offense literally changes every week and year.

From the "no names" to Moss and Welker. To Gronk and Hernandez back to Edleman and Gronk.

We'll pound Indy one week and throw it 50 times the next.

Patriot players are anything but scheme specific.

Everyone has their preferences and an idea of what they want (Seahawks have a pretty strong on arm length at corner) but all sports is talent over scheme. From youth to pros.

Ask any coach in any sport. Giveme talent over scheme, put the best guys out there and I'll worry about "scheme" after that.

We will see how the board shakes out but every team has multiple holes to plug and RB is often a luxury compared to other needs. At least in the first round.

In general, absolutely agree.

I'm a big believer in adding to your strengths. If Im Dallas Im looking my defense and adding to the offense.

On offense they are fortunate enough to have a great line so they wait and add depth, guys that fall for w/e reason there.

I'm going TE/RB/WR in terms of importance and a guy like Caff would be deadly in 2 back sets w/ Dez and Beasley.

Jeremy Cutrer, CB, Middle Tennessee St. Is an interesting day 2/3 prospect. Great length at 6'2" but is really skinny. Listed at 170lbs but apparently is up to 181. Only one cut up on DB but it is against Alabama. You only get to see him play zone and he certainly finds the right spots to play there. But the thing I like is that he hits like a missile. He'd be an interesting safety conversion if he could add another 10lbs.

At 6'2" surely 10lbs wouldn't be difficult in a proper strength and conditioning program?

Any videos?

He's already added 10 apparently but he does look matchstick thin. Doesn't hit like it though.

Agree with you about the Safety remarks, he does like to find the ball and hit them very hard, could be a work in progress. Definitely value there

Sounds Familiar lol.

MTSU's Jeremy Cutrer is drawing interest from NFL teams. He's a long, hard-hitting CB that can also play safety. Middle Tennessee State CB Jeremy Cutrer could be a surprise day 2 pick

Cutrer has been mentioned a few times. I think he was one of the first guys I brought up last year. He can play for sure. One of about 20 6'+ prospects at CB

I love this training ****. Just cool to watch. SP is a known freak. Id love to see him trimmed up to see what he'd look like. Looks like he could have easily got 8-10 w/ 315

Neg pull ups @ 270+ w/ resistance is silly.

Ross is legit and more ready than most of his comp's but his knees are Patriot quality

I don't think you can honestly look at pro sports and come away with this mindset, especially on a Pats board.

We have specific skillsets we look for at Every single position, that requires very different abilities, and that is true of most teams in the league.

We can fit talent in anywhere, but for a player to be a starter, or a building block at any position, you have physical and schematic traits that you will need.

Remember, this is a coach whose most famous quote about finding players is "we are building a team, not collecting talent".

I see @BaconGrundleCandy has already made this comp but what do people think about Tyus Bowser as a Jamie Collins replacement. I like him, Davis and Reddick for a possible pick at 32 or with a trade back. Bowser's athleticism is top notch.

He's theRDE in this clip and then makes the tackle.

All Im saying is if a guy is talented enough you make room for him on your team.

It doesn't matter what kind of defense you run. If you have a chance to get Sanders or Revis you do it and worry about scheme later. They are the scheme.

And again I absolutely understand teams have preferences and even named one in the Seahawks in looking for cbs w/ 32+ inch arms.

Two pundits, Daniel Jeremiah, Dane Brugler, have said that UCLA CB Fabian Moreau is a top 50 pick which is a fairly new name as regards the consensus. Brugler also says NC State safety Josh Jones is a top 50 guy and says "if you squint real hard you can see Jalen Ramsey". Jones has great size at 6'2" and 215lb. There is one video at Draft Breakdown but the field is completely waterlogged so you learn very little about him except that he makes tackles well.

I like Moreau a lot.

I remember bringing him up and thinking he'd be a good Fin, Seahawk, Falcon.

Eye reader. Very Competitive. More I watch more I like. There's probably 15-20 CB/Rush that have a case for top 64 pick.
