When it was 28-3 and the Falcons O looked dynamic, it wasn't about wondering whether the Patriots could score, my problem was how is the Patriots defense going to stop Atlanta from scoring? I'll admit, I got sucked in by some of the Falcons big plays but in reality, it wasn't methodical, it was a big play or two on every drive. Then the Pats scored, the D got on top, and momentum switched. The Hightower strip sack fumble was when I first started believing in the potential for a 24-0 Broncos-like comeback.
I was just kidding with @ViperGTS because that was also my concern. I knew it was going to take a turnover to get them going because I thought the worst the Falcons would do was kick field goals and keep it out of reach. It wasn't until 28-12 (two scores away) did I start to believe they had a real shot if they could stop them long enough to get one more and convert and get back in it. Plus it woke the crowd up, which I also believe played a part.

You know what's great? I can watch the replay of the game, and even during first 3 quarters be happy now and not feel like my blood pressure is rising. lol Talk about a roller coaster of emotions, I'm so glad I didn't give up and turn the game off, watched to the very end with my heart feeling like it was going to come out of my chest. lol

That was fun to read. I started when we began they kicked the field goal to make it 28-12. I still have no idea how I lived through that, my heart was absolutely pounding.

I was in the I just want them to make a game of it camp and never considered turning off the game. Could not be happier with the results. I feel for the people who went to sleep.

I will go back and read the thread, as I was just too nervous and pacing around my living room at 2am to keep up with it at the time.

I have however already read game day threads on the broncos, colts, ravens and jets forums. Shakespere was decent, but he couldn't write a tragedy or comedy like those threads.

Might I suggest Steelers Fury Sir? A most excellent vintage, filled with resigned Haters who can see what's coming probably better than we can, having experienced it so often, and many who despite the hatred cannot but express their admiration of the GOATs. A strong frisson of "Mike Tomlin is an Ass" and a long aftertaste of "We'll never beat that team until Brady retires." Highly recommended.

Agreed. I stopped posting because I couldn't believe what was happening and didn't want to jinx it. Once it was 28-12, it became a real possibility just not likely. Once the strip sack happened it became more of a real possibility than just likely.

Then I noticed the Falcons D getting gassed and I think a reason why they pushed for a TD instead of going for a FG.

Thanks for the reply Ian. I agree with most all of it. Just pisses me off seeing people start putting people on ignore lists just because they don't think how they do. If that was the case all the time here, most of us would be talking to no one lol.

Go read the Saints forum. It's gold, especially in the 4th on...

Did anyone follow the Falcons Facebook page during the game? They were counting down quarters after they got the 18 point lead. Then they posted one more quarter as they took a 28-9 lead into the fourth.

Saints thread is pure gold

Absolutely. It was like clockwork. Anytime the Pats lost or didn't have a lead (rare) you'd see a few select posters...and just for that day. You wouldn't see them during the week.
The "I'M SCARED OF (insert team here)" threads after a Thursday or Monday night game were annoying as hell too. We wouldn't even be playing that team, but after the game, threads left and right about "Should we stop ignoring (team du jour) now"? Gimme a break.
Can we start ignoring Atlanta now?

Panthers board is good, too.....Saints are smarter football fans though

That's true, but all it takes is one turnover and a follow-up drive to change momentum, and we've obviously been on the other side of it before also, so we know first-hand how quickly things can change. Fortunately for New England, that's exactly what happened and all of a sudden it became a two-score game and Atlanta was on their heels.

If you're down 25 in the fourth, I get it, but to be down that much with nearly a full half of football, it was a little early to throw in the towel. Don't get me wrong, I'm with you in that I wasn't confident and had my doubts, but I hadn't given up.

So next time, don't give up

Agreed. I just kept chanting to myself "If the Falcons can do it in the first half, we can do it in the second half". That gave me hope. That and flipping off the screen at any Falcon close up and murmuring angrily "we gonna come back you f'n s.o.b.".

I don't mind it, but primarily because I've said over, and over, and over again, posts live on long after the game ends. To fly off the handle before the final whistle with this team is just ridiculous, especially if you've been around since 2001. If you're crazy enough to spout off, the mods and I will simply step aside and won't help with the backlash. "It is what it is" and if you're going to lose your mind during a game and put it in writing (FOREVER), you better be able to deal with the consequences.
This forum is the best.

Can someone post a link. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

thanks for posting this, just went through the Steelers one, that was pure gold! comments in the 1st half about Brady supposedly being so great but choking in the superbowl, that he's overrated, "Belicheat" overrated, and apparently Brady is "marsha" over there. The celebration of the Patriots getting embarrassed was big in the 1st half, and how they were going to rub it in after the game. Also several times in the thread was something like "remjnderr steelers have 6 superbowls, Patriots only 4! lol I need to be getting ready for work but couldn't quit reading, great start to my morning
