i was so dissapointed by all the threads that were being started in the MIDDLE OF THE SUPERBOWL about blowing up the team etc

honestly to the point I'm thinking Ian needs to put a temp stop of making new threads during actual game times...its all the non believers coming out of the woodwork saying stupid ****

and it happens like EVERY SINGLE GAME

i don't want to read your sorry ass, non believing, faithless BS, its an embarrassment

would i have put money on the Pats down 28-3? no, but did i ever lose hope we had a chance to win? of course not! its BB and Brady, there is ALWAYS a chance...i just couldn't see the successful path forward, but BB could, and he walked it

so seriously @Ian i would be 100% behind a stop to making new threads WHILE a game is being played

There are literal posters on this board that will only post when the Patriots are losing or have lost a game. Not even kidding. At first it's hilarious because you know when they are coming but it has just become old and tiresome at this point.

I'll admit it. I was one who said put Jimmy G in. Why was that so far fetched?

Let's see. Down 28-3. No team in SB history had come back from more than 10 points. There ARE reasons for that.

Brady looked like poop, was getting hit left and right and when he wasn't no one could catch anything. Putting Jimmy G in under those circumstances is a nod to keeping TB from getting a massive injury.

I have to laugh at people who pound their chests about "I predicted it!"

Everything had to go right and pitch a defensive shutout in the second half and if that happens near miracles had to happen on offense.

It just so happened to play out that way. One of the 50 offensive or defensive plays doesn't happen, they lose.

So to have people who look down on those who were looking at things in a realistic/practical way need to stop. It's not like they were down 10 like Seattle. They were down 25 freaking points.

That makes so much sense, ALP.

Game Day threads, any week, any season are like truth serum. They quickly expose the weak-willed, sackless "Super Fans" that live on this board. I, like many I'm sure, was obviously concerned down 28-3. However, in the group of friends I was watching with, we all just kept saying "If the Pats can get on track here, they've got a shot". The contrast is posters who claimed "Game Over" at 14-0. Sadly, even the incredible comeback that the Patriots accomplished to win this game won't be enough to change those who can only see the negative. They'll be back next year, week after week, having learned nothing.

I really hope you do better next year. Would love to see Brees getting deep into the playoffs again. Also excited for the game against you, which should be a good one.

Oh yeah, you know we play Jets, Bills, and Dolphins ? LOL basically your rivals. Basically a light schedule. SP pretty much fired everyone so hired Curtis Johnson as wide receivers coach and Bradford Banta as special teams and
Mike Nolan to coach linebackers. So who knows.
And you know you play at the Dome ?
PATs back at the Dome with our fans ! How could that get any better.
Your fans so have to plan for that trip, and I know alot of Saints fans like me that commute for the games that would love to share rooms.
Also something talked about a few times is for us to wear Saints gear with 12 or other pats players and Pats do the same for fun, but that might be pushing it. Be funny though. Going to be alot of fun man with the brothers from the north.

I can't believe the San Fran almost comeback and the Denver comeback didn't teach anyone anything...

I remember an interview or a sound clip from BB a few years ago. "They can't blitz all game......they'll wear out eventually" That's what I was thinking going into the half. The Atlanta D would slow down eventually. And they did.

So you are saying if they put Jimmy in we wouldve started the comeback much earlier and the defense would have stopped the falcons much better ? Or you just wanted brady to not pick up an injury ? I understand your frustrations but are you listening to yourself calling your ideas practical ?

I don't mind it, but primarily because I've said over, and over, and over again, posts live on long after the game ends. To fly off the handle before the final whistle with this team is just ridiculous, especially if you've been around since 2001. If you're crazy enough to spout off, the mods and I will simply step aside and won't help with the backlash. "It is what it is" and if you're going to lose your mind during a game and put it in writing (FOREVER), you better be able to deal with the consequences.

I wouldn't mind having a few of my first half posts back but who can blame people for reacting to what was happening? In all honesty, I thought I was far more savage save one or two posts than what my emotions misremembered.

What a rollercoaster.

That's true, but all it takes is one turnover and a follow-up drive to change momentum, and we've obviously been on the other side of it before also, so we know first-hand how quickly things can change. Fortunately for New England, that's exactly what happened and all of a sudden it became a two-score game and Atlanta was on their heels.

If you're down 25 in the fourth, I get it, but to be down that much with nearly a full half of football, it was a little early to throw in the towel. Don't get me wrong, I'm with you in that I wasn't confident and had my doubts, but I hadn't given up.

So next time, don't give up

Agree.
But if you start reading before the Strip Sack (around page 143), you'll just start putting a lot of posters on your "Ignore" list.
Let's just say that "adversity doesn't bring out the best in everybody"...and leave it at that to be charitable.

And, even then, after the Falcons make that big play (~40 yards) on what turns out to be their last possession, many start to jump ship again.

I didn't post in the game thread or even really look at it. I personally felt that the Patriots would make it a close game in the 2nd half. However I didn't think they were going to win the game. All I was hoping for at half time was for the Patriots to make a game out of it and it took them until about 9 minutes in the 4th quarter to do so.

Absolutely. It was like clockwork. Anytime the Pats lost or didn't have a lead (rare) you'd see a few select posters...and just for that day. You wouldn't see them during the week.
The "I'M SCARED OF (insert team here)" threads after a Thursday or Monday night game were annoying as hell too. We wouldn't even be playing that team, but after the game, threads left and right about "Should we stop ignoring (team du jour) now"? Gimme a break.

They'll be back at the draft or during FA yelling at BB that their favorite player didn't get signed or picked. It never ends.

My favorite was the guy who kept posting "HYPER POWER" when things started cooking. I was lurking on the thread watching the game and that was a great comic relief ...
That would be me. Had the same song going the whole time during the comeback

I thought it might go like the Denver game did last year where they'd make a run and come up just short. It wasn't toward the end when they started marching in overtime that I thought something incredible was about to happen.

When it was 28-3 and the Falcons O looked dynamic, it wasn't about wondering whether the Patriots could score, my problem was how is the Patriots defense going to stop Atlanta from scoring? I'll admit, I got sucked in by some of the Falcons big plays but in reality, it wasn't methodical, it was a big play or two on every drive. Then the Pats scored, the D got on top, and momentum switched. The Hightower strip sack fumble was when I first started believing in the potential for a 24-0 Broncos-like comeback.

Haha, there was NO way I was going to read the gamethread, down 28-3! I'll have to check it out now.

I was in 'It doesn't look good, let's see if they can at least make a game of it' mode. My neighbor texted me at one point in the 2nd half 'Any hope'? I said 'Feeble flicker of hope'. We got a lot of mileage out of that analogy for the next hour as the flicker became a roaring inferno...
