Marty's interview is worth it's own thread.

Kraft and Belichik is right. This is a special team. I hope the band stays together for next year.

It's gonna be difficult, and one guy who will be a tough sign now, I think, is Hightower.

He has two Superbowl rings, just saw Jamie Collins get paid, and has been missing more time with injuries.

I think he will be looking to get paid.

He's a good player and a lot of fun but I suspect someone else will overpay for him.
I tend to agree, but Marty seems like he gets caught up in the moment, but is pretty introspective. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that there has to be some room for agreement. He would be a huge piece to a repeat.

I have no problems with these 1 year rentals as long as they play their collective behinds for winning a ring and bringing the championship to the T.E.A.M !!

Marty was amazing, also Malcolm Mitchell, amazingly humble guy, the Patriot Way is alive and well, except that one murderer guy

Was thinking along similar lines. Drafting Butt would be great.

However... something just seems wrong about having a 2TE set of "Gronk & Butt." I mean that's just rife for crude jokes.

Also, Jake Butt? I mean, isn't Jake slang for something associated with his last name?

Need to go get another tight end
Need to start scouting rookie tight ends.
Any ideas out there?
My guess Bennett is a Niner Raider or Brown
They are paying everybody

Incredible patriot

and is playing a smart game. I'm sure the worst thing he cn do is say he's open to a team friendly deal during negotiations.
not over yet.

I thought the same thing about Revis.

Bennett is turning 30 and he knows this is going to be his last shot at a big payday. Hate to see him go but let's be real.

There's a small chance he'll stay, but after hearing him last night, I'm preparing for this to be it.

But he did a hell of a job, and played the most important parts of the season on a peg leg. Respect. Thanks Marty.

I know, but I'm still reeling from the emotional high of last night and seeing all the good in people. Leave me and my bubble alone for a few more days. I'll crash into reality soon enough.

Although if it becomes a "thing", the Park Ave boys will call it anticompetitive practice and bar it.

I too think that Bennett is gone in the off season. Can't blame him, he will be a ten year vet, looking for that last big payday. It would be funny if the Pats got back a third round comp pick for him (after trading a 4th to get him) because some other team grossly overpays him.

A number of great TE in this draft.

After 2014 & 2016 seasons, I've come to care less about "keeping so and so"... bringing in this type of player (and Long, Revis, Browner) on cheaper deals so they can get the SB ring is a much better allocation of $. It gets us a deeper roster and the hunger to get the trophy.

Good player who started fast and played through discomfort. Thanks 88.

This is really well said. I could not agree more!!!

Still 50/50 in my book.
Here for some balance from Mahhty last night:

Tight end Martellus Bennett said the reason the Patriots can respond to situations like the one they faced against the Falcons and come away with an overtime win comes from the daily work the put in, and the bond that creates.

Bennett said he was incredulous last week when the suggestion was made that they run the hill behind the practice field at Gillette Stadium, which has become a custom there.

“I was like, ‘Who runs hills in Week 23?'” Bennett said with a laugh. “But that’s what this team is, a team full of workers. . . .

Bennett said that translates directly to the kind of resilience they showed while coming back for a dramatic overtime win, as there was no sense of panic in their huddle or on their sideline.

“I looked at their faces, and I knew I could trust every one of them,” Bennett said. “You look around, and you just know this guy is going to come through for you.”

Blount stays unless some team blows him away.
I however would love a Demarco Murray type back on this team.
Receivers Im good unless we dont keep Floyd then I want to swing at the fences for a reformed Gordon or if the Steelers are stupid enough to move on from Martavious Bryant.

Bennett hasn't impressed me all that much this season. Whether its due to injury or I've just been watching Gronk to long, I don't know. He just doesn't strike me as a "must resign" player. Especially at $7m+ per year.

Cleveand game he was otherworldy then he got hurt and barely missed a snap that is invaluable to BB

Love him, great interview, but he's likely gone. Oh well. BB will find a way.

Sort of like Coach K and his one and dones...
